Editorial Reviews

2012 live release from the veteran British rockers. Live In Athens, Greece 2011 is the fifth official bootleg of a series of live albums: this is Uriah Heep's homage to the most dedicated fans in the world. Uriah Heep haven't forgotten how to rock, that's for sure. The evidence to this statement is this live CD series presenting their classic rock songs as fresh as if they wrote the songs just before they hit the stage in Athens on 12th of March 2011 at Gagarin 205. Mick Box and his Heeps take you on a ride through their greatest hits. Earmusic.

Another home run from Uriah Heep! A great representation of 40 years of Uriah Heep rock and roll! The only negative I can say is this was recorded before the Into The Wild so there is nothing from it on here.

Old rock bands never die, really......they mutate away. Uriah Heep may never have gotten the plaudits some believe they deserve in either North America or the UK, but they are HUGE in Poland, Spain, Japan, parts of South America and in Greece, where this "official bootleg" was recorded. This is nothing more and nothing less than an hour-and-a-half of good, straight-ahead HARD ROCK (no, not f###in 'heavy metal') played and sung with gusto. Only guitarist Mick Box remains from the original line-up (hence the "mutate" reference), but if you know any of the band's material, you'd be hard-pressed to find this live set watered-down from the original recordings at all. If anything, Bernie Shaw, the band's current lead singer, is probably the best they've ever had (WAY better than original vocalist David Byron), and the other guys in the band deliver the goods and then some.

Heep will probably never make it into the Rock 'N Roll Hall of Fame, but so what? Like other band road workhorses from the 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s, they do now what most of the Hall of Famers can't these days----give solid, terrific value-for-money music to audiences who love what they do. Some of their most recent studio albums are worth checking out, too, but if you feel nothing more than an occasional urge to headbang, this and other recordings in their "Official Bootleg" series might be the ticket.

Great live HEEP, as usual, and one of the better from their "Official Bootleg" series. Good sound quality and a typically awesome performance. It's only a single disc, though, as two or three songs from the actual concert are excluded from this release.
