After Jose Padilla left the succesful Cafe Del Mar organisation many thought that would be the end. For many years Jose Padilla was the resident DJ at the Cafe Del Mar Cafe in Ibaza and was known as the king of chill out music. Cafe Del Mar Volume 7, the first compiled by Bruno features some of the most beautiful ambient music this reviewer has heard in a long while. Some of the regulars are still there like A New Funky Generation for example. Moby has writen the beautiful 6 minute classic Whispering Wind while UKO give us the amazing Sunbeams. Lux, Afterlife, Bedrock and Slow provide some of the most incredible chill out music heard in eons. The highlight track for this CDM lover would be from Bent with an amazing track called Swollen. The inclusion of Bush was a risk that has paid off. Their remix of Letting The Cables Sleep is both moving and haunting while Oysten Sevag and Lakki Patey play some beautiful flamenco and classical guitar. There's not one dud on this album and like my self if your a fan of ambient chill out music with a world influence and intellegnce you'll simply adore this latest offering.

Ok, so I heard most of the music on this album on one of the channels on an airplane coming back from London. I ripped out the sheet of paper that indicated I was listening to Ambiant Jazz (hope I spelled that right). I went out the next day to Amazon and bought this album. It is so incredibly good! I keep listening to UKO's Sunbeams over and over. Lux, Afterlife and Moby just add to this album. Take it from me, don't hesitate, just buy it. This album is great for a rainy day, sunny day or whenever. I hope you enjoy it as much as I have.

Cafe del Mar enters the 21st centrury with its seventh release in the series. I welcomed the change from Jose Padilla to Bruno in taking up the charge of compiling this album. Volume 7 has a different sound and feel compared to the last couple of Cafe del Mar releases. Thanks to Bruno's taste in ambient electronica being much different from Padilla's.

No hard duds made their way onto this album. However, the opener, "Northern Lights" by Lux is the only great track, and there are too many average ones.

3.5/5 stars for Volume 7.
