About the Author
Peter Clarkson is the executive secretary of the Scientific Commission on Antarctic Research based at the Scott Polar Research Institute in Cambridge, England. He also worked for twenty-two years as a geologist for the British Antarctic Survey. He has published many popular accounts on volcanoes, most recently in "Reader's Digest."
