Grade 3-6 These books are excellent introductions to earth sciences and will be useful for research. Glaciers and Ice Caps covers topics such as glacial formation and movement, the Ice Ages, ice sheets, and the scientific explorations and study teams from around the world that are currently working in Antarctica. Volcanoes and Earthquakes explains the earth's surface, volcanic anatomy, and the eruption and earthquake processes. The most recent eruptions and quakes (Mount St. Helens and Mexico City) are described. Bramwell presents concise, informative explanations of the forces that have shaped and are still reshaping our planet (and possibly others). He includes aspects of geology, chemistry, physics, meteorology, and archeology, demonstrating the interrelationship of all the sciences. Each of these books is generously illustrated with full-color photographs. Charts and diagrams, with annotated explanations, are also included.
