Book Description

There’s always been something alluring about cars, and certain makes in particular. And while sex in a “bug” might not be easy, it’s often popular with those who happen to own one. P.M. White's latest novella Volksie explores the love of all things “bug” in sultry, vivid detail. This erotic tale of romance and the open road delves into the relationships of families, car enthusiasts, and those living on the deviant edge of societal norms.

Volksie wants only to escape from the shadow of her gangster brother, Totti, who would do anything for his beautiful but free-spirited sister. Down-on-his-luck car thief Alston Bennington wants only to be with Volksie and can think of little else, to the despair of his sister, Samantha, a sexual freak and the backbone of the Bennington family.

When Volksie goes on the run with Alston, Totti resolves to do whatever it takes to bring her back. A madcap race and chase across the US brings the characters together in a surprising – and sexy – conclusion.

4.0 out of 5 stars "Vanishing Point" with VWs! July 7, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
At one point, early on in P.M. White's "Volksie", anti-hero Alston, along with his best friend Grumbine, and Volksie, Alston's soul mate-as-yet-unawares, plunge their stolen VW Beetle into the Mississippi River near the Gateway Arch in St. Louis. The little car begins to sink, and for a terrifying moment, Alston fears he's lost the girl of his dreams, not ten minutes after meeting her. But before the chapter skids up to a brake-squealing, metal-crunching, edge-of-the-precipice to-be-continued , Alston believes he sees Volksie emerging, naked, on the opposite bank. Never mind that the river is nearly a mile wide at this point, and rife with treacherous currents; this girl is magic!

And so it is with much of this story. Subtitled "A tale of sex, Americana, and cars", "Volksie" is P.M. White's vividly dreamed, cute, seductively satirical, sometimes silly magical homage to the wide, fast-flowing river of the American mythos and the tributary subcultures that feed and renew it. The book is a classic chase epic; a tale of sadistic gangsters pursuing hapless heroes across the wide open deserts of the American southwest; think "Vanishing Point" with VWs; classic American car culture turned on its head; a gentler, geekier "Dirty Mary, Crazy Larry" with cybersex, less impressive horsepower, and a much happier ending. It is a story about survival and revenge, enthusiasm, passion, obsession, and loving what you love no matter what the world may think.

Where style was concerned, the VW Type 1 (Beetle or bug) was a living fossil long before it ceased production in the early 2000s; a charming throwback to the late 1930s, when "streamlining" was all the rage in automotive design.

4.0 out of 5 stars A FUN AND WILD RIDE!! April 11, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Wow...just...WOW. Color me surprised. I'm not really sure what I truly expected but this wasn't it. But that's a good thing!

This is a novella that really centered around two converging storylines which was nice to see. The first one being between Samantha and her live in boyfriend Gary who are both...well...sexual freaks is the most accurate term I can come up with right now. Samantha can't get enough and is willing to do just about anything and Gary loves to videotape her. Gary is very loving and supportive of Sammy's while she deals with the very real aspect of her mother's illness.

Flip to Sammy's brother Alston who is a ne'er-do-well with a drifter's spirit who has a run in with a beauty somewhat flighty free spirit he instantly falls in love with named Volksie. They discover that they both share an obsession with Volkswagen Bugs. But there's a problem. Volksie is being persued by a couple of thugs who work for her brother, the infamous Totti and so the fun begins.

At times I found a couple of the characters to be a bit outlandish but I was still able to connect with them and care about what happened to them as well as finding myself routing for them. The supporting casts of characters were wonderful and brought a few giggles out of me. The climax to the story which I will not give away had me both laughing and cheering on our hero, hoping that all the lovers get what they not only want but need while I felt like I was on the edge of my seat through parts of it. After all, they all had a 50-50 shot at happiness.

To wrap up I there were moments that were predictable but others that were a pleasant surprise. This was a sizzling hot, sexy, wild ride that was full of originality, humor and a love of VW's that abound. This is definitely a read that I would recommend.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent erotic short April 3, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Samantha and Alston Bennington grew up with only their mom who was a waitress that struggled to keep them fed and clothed with a roof over their head. The one thing they always had though was a VW Bug.

Even though Alston is the older sibling he's been a screw up all his life. A car thief traveling a step ahead of the law he migrates from place to place, but always sending his sister a letter to let her know what's happening in his life.

Samantha is the one who sticks around to take care of their mother going through chemo. The good news is she's met a man that revels in her more kinky side. Is it a match made in heaven?

Volksie is a VW Bug lover who just wants to get away from her over protective brother. When she runs into Alston in St. Louis and then loses him, he follows her to Arizona hoping she traveled there as she had mentioned. Hooking up again with her feels so right yet everything starts going wrong. And when things look the darkest, it's her brother who makes the right decision.

This short tale is well-written with well-developed characters and an interesting plot that has a bit of a twist. Sexy, steamy, erotic and, at times suspenseful, it has a variety of creative scenes that make this a delightfully spicy read!

5.0 out of 5 stars Hot, fun and hot some more! March 13, 2013
By sid042
Format:Kindle Edition
I can't say I'm a huge car fan or know a lot a about Americana but when it comes to sex in cars, I'm sold!

Volskie comes straight in with a hot scene involving Sammy and her boyfriend Gary, who live a pretty open-minded lifestyle - but are still very much devoted to one another - which I loved. The story skips between Sammy and Alston, her brother, her sends her letters to keep him updated. Alston is searching for the beautiful, Volskie - the woman of his dreams and soon catches up with her. With various nasty people on their tail, hunting them down, they begin an hugely erotic journey.

A lot of the scenes involve cars in some way but they never get tired or old. In fact, pretty much every other scene was erotic and I like a good story to my erotica so would normally find this a negative thing but it wasn't at all. The story still absolutely kept me hooked while the sex scenes were fresh, interesting and raw.

The added touch of suspense was great and led to a thrilling, if slightly confusing, ending. I also adored that it was effectively a happily ever after, albeit not a traditional fluffy one, for both Alston and Sammy. A great author and a great introduction to Americana for me!
