About the Author

Jacques Poulin is the author of many novels, most of which have been translated into English by Sheila Fischman. In late spring of 2001, he was honoured with the Molson Prize by The Canada Council for the Arts. After spending several years in Paris, France, Poulin now lives and writes in Quebec City.

Sheila Fischman is one of Canada’s premier translators. She has translated over 125 books and for her work was awarded the Molson Prize in 2008. In 2007, her translation of Jacques Poulin’s novel My Sister’s Blue Eyes was a finalist for the Governor General’s Literary Award for Translation, and in 2006, her translation of Pascale Quiviger’s novel The Perfect Circle was shortlisted for the Scotiabank Giller Prize. --This text refers to an alternate Paperback edition.

Je suis professeur de littérature francophone à l'université de Veracruz, et celui-ci est un livre qui s'adapte à mes propos pédagogiques et littéraires. C'est un parcours par l'Amérique du nord et par l'histoire. Si vous aimez les romans contemporains bien écrits, je vous le recomande. Génial, structure, personnages, intrigue, narration, parallélisme entre présent et passé.

This book is a rather pleasant and easygoing book about an unmarried couple who travel from Canada through the United States, including the Oregon trail. The most interesting part of the book is the relationship between the man and the woman. The writing style is simple and straightforward, and the story manages to keep one entertained throughout.Translator's Kiss
