Robert Bentley Publishing has created an art out of automotive repair. Their books are the most in depth, real world available on the market. Unlike some other publishers on the market, their books provide you with all possibilities depending on year, make, problem, etc. rather than "if the switch doesn't work on position 1,2,3, but on four, replace the switch" which by the way wasn't my problem at all....(worn out #3 resistor on fresh air fan relay). Consider these books an investment, you won't only save time in troubleshooting, but also by doing it right the first time.

While both Clymer and Hayes publish what could be described as an adequate service manual, the Bently service manual is definitive! Bently has an obviously close relationship with VW and it shows. At 500 pages Bently covers all permutations. When compared to the others, it may be twice the price but its ten times the manual. It really is a bargain.

I've used the Bently manual for everything from minor service issues (ie brakes & tune-ups) to major whole engine teardowns. The manual warns you of ahead of time where a special VW tool (they even specify the tool) or the servces of a machine shop is needed.

Frankly, I wouldn't attempt a repair without it. I just bought a new VW and bought the manual along with it.

You cannot get a better and more descriptive manual for your 1985-1993 Cabriolet/Scirocco. As suggested by most mechanics and VW dealers, this manual covers everything about your car. I am reliant on this manual on everything I do to my car.

hi, i'm just getting into vw tuning; so i decided to buy a service manual. it's the best you could buy for your cabby or scirocco period. but i would buy a Haynes manual for carry-on purposes its much lighter. but this is the big big book of specs and black & white diagrams.

An excellent manual for the maintenance and repair of the VW 89 Cabrolet. From tear down, to just simple diagnostic work. The manual explains and pictorally allows you to visualize,how to do it all. The engine, body and electrical is all demonstrated.

Not much to say about this book; it's more newbie-friendly then I expected, tells it's information in a structural, correct, way and also supports that with clear pictures, where needed.

So, I'm positive about it. Do note, that it doesn't cover the somewhat more recent Golf 1 cabriolets, with for example a 2H-engine. Although, of course, most information applies to them as well.

A little bummed that some important detail are left out in the manual, but it's nothing I cant figure out on my own. Well worth the money.

I have a VW Cabriolet 1989 and this is an excellent item, Must have for car owner. Detailed description of almost everything and pictures and images that really help!!
