Get the book!

This will not work with Win7.

Also you need internet access and can only
activate on 2 computers. In order to use a
3rd (say at a friends house)you have to have
one of the other computers inactivated and
they must do it for you. You email them and
wait, and don't even try on off hours.

Also the search is a royal pain. You have
to play "can I guess what it is called",
is it back up light or backup light or tail
light. A GIANT PAIN!

Get the book this junk is not worth the
hassle!

I bought this DVD to work on my 2006 Jetta TDI and found it very helpful. It has good diagrams, clear instructions and has a very extensive list of things it shows how to do. This also includes information on maintenance, technical service bulletins, and other general information. If you want to work on your car, this is a very good resource and can save you Thousands in service charges.

This product turned out to be very good. I would caution anyone looking at buying it to check your operating system because apparently this product does not run on Vista yet. We did not know this prior to purchasing, and thankfully have a computer at home that is still running XP. Otherwise, very informative product.

I was really excited to get a "full repair/service" manual for my Jetta! Wow was I let down once I installed it.

First, ... the navigation within the product is so chopped up and compartmentalized that the usability drops through the floorboard! It's not really navigation as much as cubed stake ( the really cheap kind!) I believe this is done so that one can't print out whole sections of the manual.

Second, ... as for printing FORGET THAT ROAD.

Third, it is completely non-compatible with anything newer than Windows XP Professional. Do I need to say how lame that is???

Fourth, DLL errors and runtime crashes galore!!! I immediately started having program crashes. Upon searching the BP official forums, I came across this "fix", which basically says [Identify the dll file causing the exception then rename it to <filename>_OLD.dll and that should clear everything up!] ARE YOU KIDDING ME! On a whim I decided to try that, ROFL my other "critically important" programs started crashing (ie: Office 2007, SolidWorks, and more!!!) so I undid the dll renaming. Wow what a joke of an attempt at trouble shooting.

Fifth, the diagrams are limited by your screen resolution and there is no way to zoom in or get close up! Even at 1200 x 900 they can be indistinguishable.

Sixth, BP has a "satisfaction guarantee" ... still waiting to see if they make good on that, but my hope does not abound in this. The reply from customer service went something like this! [Talk to Amazon!] uh!.... Hello, .... opened software! Amazon doesn't take it back!

Now maybe this is just for this single edition (Jetta 2005,2006,2007,2008,2009 including SportWagen) but I doubt it!

Very lame, frustrating and so fundamentally flawed. STAY AWAY!!!

The manuel is very heavy on software protection. Bloated protections make the manual slow and difficult to transfer. I had an unfortunate computer meltdown that could have been caused by this manual. I emailed them for any updates they may have and to this day have not recieved a response from them. I guess they consider their product too sophisticated to fail. The manual does not need all this protection. The organization of the data in the manual could be improved, though it is adaquate and very helpful.

This manual is helpfull for repairs and item locations but it is not a full Factory Manual. Usually a factory manual not only has repair information but system operation explanations also and this does not. For example how does the EGR system work on the TDI? there is no way to find this out as all it has is how to remove and replace the items.
I am used to Mercedes manuals that have full system function explanations along with repair info.
It is much easier to fix a system if you know how it works.

I'm running this manual on Windows XP. The software crashes. It often will print the text but not the figures. Links within a description frequently do not work. It's like the entire user interface was designed to prevent piracy, and in doing so, they've made all this great information extremely difficult to bring to the garage (no, I'm not bringing my laptop into the garage with me and operating it with greasy hands). I should have bought the paper manual.
