Recently purchased an E-Bahn electronic repair manual from Bentley Publisher and must report I am very disappointed with it. Initially, could not get the program to run due to conflicts with Norton. After installing a couple of exceptions in Norton provided by Bentley customer service, program did run. Next problem was unable to print, same fix again. If these are known issues, correct the program.
Information itself is strictly repair, no info on the vehicle even though disk indicates "self study technical training" is included on the disk, this does not come with your purchase price. It takes a lot of playing to find what you need and when you do, there is no zoom for pictures, no book mark feature so you can quickly return to them. VERY un-user friendly!
Unless you have to buy one of these e-books due to unavailability of your car model in another format, I wouldn't recommend it. Just retired from Aerospace Engineering where proper and effective manuals are essential and would never provide manuals like this to our technicians. Poor, lacking in features, not user friendly. All of the things that in today's technology era should be there. My opinion only!
Bottom line, I did eventually find the problem and part I needed. I could not learn about system operation and how it interacts with the rest of the engine so I am left being a parts changer rather than an educated technician. Not satisfactory in my opinion.

I copied the review of "Passat Owner" from Canada, because this manual is described very well from him. Additionally-It can NOT work with Windows 7 and have problems with Vista. I both it for $70 from Bentley and trust me it doesn't worth $7. Find another manual-this one is useless. Don,t mislead yourself from German name "E-Bahn".

...the first thing about this manual is that it specifically says it's for Windows 2000 or XP so if you go outside of that requirement, you open the door for problems (a DVD that covers cars as new as 2009, but then relies on windows 2000/XP is already a bad sign). Luckily I had an old laptop with XP, so i used it and the CD booted up fine. Two rounds of registration, sign into your account crap, etc.....this manual just feels choppy, thrown together and incomplete in some areas. There is an index that allows you to search for topics by car part, for example if i need to see stuff on the ignition system I can work my way through the index to the ignition system. Sounds great right? Not really. The information in this index is incomplete. Diagrams with incomplete legends, parts that should be in the index are missing completely. Just a really bad job. The only thing that saved this DVD manual is the "search" function. If you use this function and search for "fuel filter", you get 50 results for various models and years, but if you find the link that applies to your vehicle it will be helpful. The diagrams and procedures are definitely not the "hold your hand through every step" type, so don't expect that. You kind of have to know what's going on and this manual will give you little hints on what to do. That's the best way to describe it "hints". You then have to do some figuring on your own. But if you are buying the manual in the first place, maybe you already know enough to figure out what the heck the manual is talking about. It's not going to be easy, but this manual works.

I bought the DVD expecting to find PDFs of the material I need. Instead I find a proprietary Windows application (I'm a Mac user). I tried installing it into my Windows 7 virtual machine, and couldn't get it to run. The data is stored in a format that no other application seems to know how to open.

Stay away if you can.
