In contrast to the other reviewer, I found this to be one of the most accessible constitutional law texts. There are many, many outlines in this casebook -- and that is a good thing. The chapter outlines provide the sort of top-down view that casebooks rarely include and that supplements often do poorly. Moreover, the problems that follow each unit, if thought through carefully, are straightforward but force the student to familiarize herself with the material.

Alright, so, I'm not a Con Law person but I thought this book made it as straight forward as those cases could be. Sure, I used the First Amendment Law in a Nutshell supplement too, but i'm pretty sure I would have given up on my 1st Amendment Law class without the way this text is organized.

In the grand scheme of casebooks, I think this is a good one. At the very least it's extremely well edited and organized. I believe that is because unlike SO many books, it only has one author.

This is the most frustrating law textbook I've had to deal with as a law student, hands down. At first, I was excited to see little black letter law summaries at the beginning of each chapter but 90% of the time they only serve to confuse the law because the author is way into detail and incapable of presenting a big picture. Cases are also overly edited and broken up into different parts of the book. By the end of the semester, I just stuck to learning from my Nutshell.
