Gil de Biedma might not be as well known as Garcia Lorca, but he is without a doubt one of the best and most influential poets of Spain's 20th Century. Until his death in 1990, Gil de Biedma crafted poems that reflected the harsh reality of Spain under Franco, the ills of modern life, and the melancholy reliefs of his social life. Accessible yet complex, his verses are among the best in the last 50 years.
