Product Description

Updated and enhanced in 2009, this larger Voodoo Tactical MATRIX rucksack 20"T x 11"W x 7"D) combines the best features of the newest high-tech civilian packs with those demanded by the tactical community.

This pack was not designed in a vacuum; military, law enforcement and multiple federal agencies provided input into the design and helped field test this backpack. The result is a comfortable, feature-rich pack designed for the future instead of being mired in the past. For example:

  • The MATRIX pack is designed for comfort with adjustable, padded shoulder harness and an integral compartment for a hydration bladder (sold separately).
  • Designed for the modern warrior, with a zippered laptop compartment and various pockets and pouches for radios, GPS and other electronic instruments.
  • Large enough to carry plenty of gear, with a large main compartment and multiple pockets on the sides and rear, but not as big as our Tobago bag. Not counting the pockets, the pack measures 20" tall x 11" wide x 7" deep.
  • Includes multiple rows of MOLLE webbing attachment points, or PALs, that allow you to add additional MOLLE compatible pouches and accessories.

I received this bag about a week ago, the black one, and it's everything i was hoping for. It's larger then i thought it was by the photos of it. Lot's of smaller pockets, large main cargo area and it appears to be very sturdy. I've been carrying it around for a week with around 40 pounds or so of stuff in it. ( a couple of large college books, laptop and accessories, lunch box, 24oz water bottle) and a few other misc. items. I even put a 6 pack of beer in it on the way home a couple of times. This bag is comfortable to wear too. It distributes the weight well. The bag came assembled except for the waist belt(which I have left off), and 4 straps. The waist belt looks easy to put on should I decide to use it in the future. As I stated earlier this bag appears to be very well made and sturdy. It has a little weight to it when empty which is a good sign of the quality construction of it. After a week of using it I don't have any complaints.

I really like the amount of zippered pockets this bag has and the layout of them, but I have had two of them and they have both ripped at the top corners. I travel on airlines alot for my job and carry a laptop and lots of accessories in the pockets and may be i was a little ahrd on it, but for a $100+ backpack quoted as military grade, it should have held up better in my opinion. If you travel light this bag may work well for you, but if you tend to load it up and work it hard you may want to look elsewhere.

I bought one of these prior to a job traveling in pretty hazardous locations via military aircraft etc.

I am far from the type to need a serious military tool, but I did enjoy the styling and it certainly fit in the environment where i was living and working. i really appreciated the amount of gear along with a 17" laptop i was able to fit in this bag. i eventually lashed a molle shaving kit bag to the out side and it was about all i needed for carry on (barely fit in overhead), daypack, and short jaunts between my main location and other spots for several days at a time. more than a week was a stretch, but this bag stood the test of semi rugged use and abuse and came through it shining.

i have since downsized to a smaller laptop and the styling doesn't really fit into my current office environment so i've taken to using a more sedate messenger bag for daily use, but I am happy that i still have this bag to fall back on in case i need it.

Within 6 months of light to moderate use as a college backpack the strap has already ripped 1" away from the pack. At $115 that is totally unacceptable!!! It looks as if there is no double stitching anywhere on the bag, which for the price is completely unacceptable. You'd be better off paying $30 for a cheap Chinese made version. I knew I should have gone with Spec-Ops Brand but sadly now I have to fight with voodoo tactical customer service to replace a ruined piece of crap for a new piece of crap. In the end I am still stuck with crap. If it says Voodoo Tactical consider it hostile to your wallet!

Organizes all my tools I use, and fits my 15" tough book laptop in the zippered compartment behind the back cushion by the arm straps.

I work for the railroad and needed a good backpack so I purchased this one 2yrs ago.it looks great with lots of room and tons of pockets inside and out .what I have found to be a major design flaw with this bag is the main compartment zipper, all of the weight of this bag rest on this zipper and caused the two main compartment zippers to both fail (very cheap zippers didn't help) if the main compartment zipper was on front of bag it would hold up better.that being said it served me ok for 2yrs but it's not built for railroad conductors who carry allot of rule books, lanterns and such.i paid 130$ from cheaper than dirt for it and for about the same price I'm going with an Autumn Creek backpack with a lifetime wAranty .I don't have to be TactiCOOL
