5.0 out of 5 stars Their Way or the Highway! There's a signpost up ahead, December 18, 2002

This is a collection of bone chillin' tunes from the dark highways of America. The best CD this band produced since "Tiki Man." I know Deadbolt was a favorite of Britney Spears, at least while she was dating the guitar player. And I've heard Pat Boone and Yanni both mention this particular album as inspirational. I couldn't agree more. The first three songs alone are worth the price.

5.0 out of 5 stars Got "Blacktop Fever"?, February 17, 2006

The first time I ever heard Deadbolt was when a friend played this cd at work. I was immediately hooked and this remains my favorite cd by the band. The music and lyrical imagery of these songs will grab you and leave you wanting more. These guys have a great sense of humor and a fantastic sound, with just the right tinge of creepiness thrown in. Twangy rockabilly surf sound, heavy on reverb, with vocals/lyrics that sound like some unholy union of Johnny Cash and Rob Zombie. Stand out tracks are "Voodoo Trucker", "Lone Highway", and my all-time fav "Roadside Cross". I don't know anyone who has heard "Truck Driving S.O.B" and not loved it.The guys have done their homework and have thrown in some references that any true trucker will identify with. This cd is on my "must have on a desert island" list and will not disappoint. I also recommend "Tiki Man" and "Tijuana Hit Squad". By this cd and hit the highway!

5.0 out of 5 stars Red Cooley-Burn In Hell!, December 28, 2003
This review is from: Voodoo Trucker (Audio CD)
An album dedicated to truckers? Absolutely, and Deadbolt is the band to do it. This is easily one of the best discs I own, by one of the best bands I've discovered in the past five years. Tattoo artists, carnies, and hobos all know of the legend that is Deadbolt. Anything by Deadbolt seems to really piss off nu-metal dorks and hippies alike, which is just fine by me. But Voodoo Trucker is a good intro cd for the rest of their discography. Every track here is solid. Also recommend "Hobo Babylon". You want the curly hand and a winestain on the face?!

4.0 out of 5 stars yet another killer disc from "the scariest band on earth", December 17, 2004

Stand out tracks are the first three: "Billy's Dead", "Voodoo Trucker", "Truck Driving SOB" but the whole album rocks. If you like spooky surf guitar, trucker punk, mudflap chicks, chicken fried steak, aphetemine, cigarettes, and the open road, then this album is for you. I like how Deadbolt has a theme with every album. The trucker theme to this album is killer, but also check out the low-rent hired assassin theme of "Tijuana Hit Squad" or the deadly curse of Africa on "Zulu Death Mask." If you like scary surf rock and rockabilly, Deadbolt is your band, and this album is a good a place to start as any.
