I can't say enough good things about Vornado fans.I recently got a couple of these reconditioned 610B fans to put in windows or hallways. I've had a 510W Vornado for years, and recently borrowed a friend's 750B to try it out, too. The 610B is the ideal size to put in a window. I could go a lot longer into summer this year before turning on my air conditioner by using two of them to pull cooler air in from outside day and night. When it gets so hot I still need to close the windows and turn on the window air conditioner, they're great for circulating the air more evenly around the room, shooting it down a hall to a room without air conditioning (on high), or aiming it directly at me (low or medium) in a room without AC (or so I can keep the AC turned lower). I don't notice as much difference between the 510 and the 610 in power. Not a huge difference in size, either. The 750 is the real leap up in both size and power (see my longer review for 510W, or review of 750B, if you want to hear more about other Vornado fans). All three sizes can move air at least ten feet - the difference is how much air and how far (and how high you have to turn them up to create the same breeze). The 500-series is great for a "personal" fan aimed at only one or two people, or to move air around a small room. 610B moves air in a wider swath. 750B moves air in the widest path of all - ideal to make everyone sitting on a couch or at a table feel cooler at the same time. The 610W makes more noticeable noise than 510W even on low, but it's still pretty quiet. And since 610B on low may move as much air as the 510W on medium, in some sense it's "quieter" to get the same effect. (same is true of next step up - 750B on low will create as much breeze as 510W on high 10 feet away, making less noise in the process). All the Vornado fans make quite a bit more noise on high setting. After seeing (feeling) how amazing Vornado fans are, various friends and family decided to buy several each of the 610B, 750B, and the 510W or 550G.

Considering the size and portability of this fan, it provides a lot of wind and power. This fan can be placed in two positions-- either horizontal or vertical--for your comfort. I highly recommend this fan, if you can get past the noise. (It can get pretty loud at the higher speeds.)

I was very hesitant to shell out sixty bucks for a small table fan, but going through five traditional fans of varying sizes and prices, and having to return all of them because they were either too loud or too flimsy (or both), I caved in and bought this Vornado. The amount of air this fan is capable of moving is impressive considering its size. It isn't quite as powerful as the Vornado lookalike (made by Honeywell) that I bought and then returned, but it's definitely a lot quieter. It's also smaller and can be taken apart for cleaning -- something I can't say about the lookalike. The fact that this fan is made in the USA and has a lifetime warranty are certainly good selling points. Still, I just wish it wasn't so expensive. |
