Vornado's small (12-inch diameter), quiet fan is designed to provide big output. As the manufacturer points out, this fan isn't just for cooling: proper air circulation can save money on winter heating bills as well as summer cooling bills by beating air stratification. I've been a big fan (no pun intended) of Vornado air circulators. I own a couple of different models but this is the first time I'm not happy with the product. Although there's only a few parts to assemble, putting it together took a lot of effort because of poor design. Getting the parts to fit was so much harder than it should ever be. Secondly, when the fan is tilted at certain angles you can hear the blades slightly rubbing against the inside of the fan.
Do yourself a favor, don't buy this model.

I don't know what the previous reviewer's problem was, but if it took me 3 minutes to assemble this fan, I'd be surprised. That was after I had already lost the instructions, and I am notoriously ham handed when it comes to figuring out things mechanical. There is only one way to put it together.

Having said that, make sure you are aware that this is a fairly small fan, and that the pedestal is fairly short, and doesn't adjust. It is cheaply made from molded plastic. No metal fram here. If that's what you want, then cool.

It does seem to move a substantial amount of air.

I got mine at a substantial discount (the model is discontinued), and my only regret is that I didn't get two when I had the chance.

I bought this fan last year. In fact, I got 2 at a cost of $50.00 each. They work great. Are light weight so it is easy to move from room to room. I use it especially in the summer in my kitchen when cooking or baking. I can put it right in front of my back door and draw the heat out. My kitchen is small, 5' X 10' and it can heat up quickly. Even just boiling water it gets warm but this fan takes the heat right out of the room. The only thing I do find disappointing about the fan is that the cord travels the length of the column and comes out of the bottom. This is good if the outlets are near the floor. In my kitchen, all the outlets are 4' to 5' up so it doesn't give me much room to move the fan around. All in all, I would recommend this.
