Vornado MD1-0002 Humidifier Wicks

These humidifier filters are as cheap as they get and lasts forever! We live in the Southwestern desert and our family members all have naturally dry skin so our humidifiers practically run year around (one in each bedroom, 365 nights a year). I only need to replace these filters about twice a year because, every month, I soak them in vinegar to remove the hard water deposits. This keeps the filters supple and able to absorb/output more moisture into the air. Don't buy the cheap "fakes" on eBay; get the original Vornado filters; they'll last a whole lot longer than the "fakes". Love the Vornado humidifiers too -- easiest to use and clean!

Coolest thing about these, they fit ANY Vornado Humidifier! That takes all the worry away about figuring out the right size/type of replacement wick to get. So easy!

Vornado humidifiers work great, but our wicks need changing every 2-3 weeks. They get really stinky (bacteria smell) if they stay in longer and using the bacteriostat makes the water bubble and leak out the sides of the unit. The reason I've only given the wicks 3 stars is that they're too expensive and getting more expensive. I used to be able to get them at a local store for about $8 or $9 each, but nobody stocks them any more and to get the free shipping from Amazon, you have to buy them from the Amazon store (not one of their partners) where currently they are selling for $14.99 each. That's $30 worth of filters every month.... I just can't afford that.

I suppose it's doing its job, but this replacement wick lasted only a few weeks before getting moldy. I don't know if it has to do with the water or the fact that I have 2 cats, but it seems a little ridiculous to have to replenish the wicks every few weeks. Wish I had known that before purchasing the humidifier.

I have been using the Vornado Humidifier and wicks for a long time. I find the Vornado Wicks to be the best you can use for this type of humidifier. One set will last through the heating season and sometimes longer. The wetter you keep the wicks the better job they do in wicking the water up into the filters so the air can be pulled through the wet wick and out into the air in your home. I turn my wicks every two days. The side of the wick that's towards the outter side of the humidifier becomes dry from air being pulled through the wick. By turning the wick from outside to inside and saturating it with water from inside the humidifier the Vornado wicks will keep the correct amount of moisture in your home. Of course you have to set the air speed (fan) and set the control for correct cycling of moisture into the air. Amazon.com offered the best prices for the Vornado Wicks even with shipping the wicks are priced lower than you can get them retail from a hardware store. Not many major retailers carry Vornado wicks and the ones that do have them priced high! I will keep buying wicks through Amazon as long as they keep carring them through their sight! Thanks

Yep, hard to review something like this. These are the genuine Vornaodo replacement wicks. Order several and get free shipping. YOu need to replace these often in the humidifying season, so stock up. Best price around.

I, too, find it annoying that I have to buy these filters online, but when I bought them here from Amazon (instead of a cheap-o place), I got one free with Amazon's 4-for-3 and free supersaver shipping. And why not buy 4? 4 packs (which is 8 total filters) is not a huge amount (I'll use them this winter and next) - and you're saving $15 (plus shipping!) in the process. Not a bad deal, and I know I'll get the real Vornados from Amazon -- not the knock-offs. On the off-chance I do get knock-offs, I know Amazon will make it right. We're really happy with our Vornado.

These are not genuine Vornado filters. Nor are they even a usable substitute for the genuine product. They do not "wick" water in the humidifier. Don't be fooled by the price, and do not order this product!

I use Vornado replacement wicks because I was cautioned against using after-market wicks by the owner of the music store I shop in. He tried them in the past to save a couple of bucks but found that they didn't last nearly as long as the factory replacement wicks. I am very happy with the performance of these wicks.

One thing that stands out is that instead of the dozens of filters, wicks etc that other companies have to fit their products. Vornado humidifiers ALL take these wicks! Making sure that the consumer gets the right ones and EASILY is a great idea! These are made in the US.
If ordering from Amazon, I do find it to be a good idea to watch the prices for this item on Amazon since they fluctuate up to $4.00 difference depending on when you look. What's up with that? If you're buying several packages at a time, that really adds up!
