Great video with awesome tips and gear specifications - Doug Jensen is the master and I often watch this DVD over and over. Very well written and filled with loads of techniques for the amateur like me. His techniques can be referenced in most books about lighting - I recently checked out an old library book and low and behold, everything he talks about is written there. Great, highly recommend! Hope he produces more lighting videos - I'd buy them!

I am new to lighting and heard good things about this DVD. I'm so glad I picked it up and looking forward to not only applying the techniques taught but also building my own light kit.

I bought this DVD because I have confidence in the Vortex name after buying Master the Sonvy HVR-Z7U. Like my earlier Vortex teaching video, Doug Jensen not only knows his profession, he can teach it. The DVD DOES show you exactly what you need to have in your kit and then goes step-by-step through through the process. I purchased several of the items Doug suggests and with those plus the techniques he demonstrated, I already am moving from beginner to more professional. Excellent training video.

The accurately titled "How To Setup, Light & Shoot Great Looking Interviews" is nicely produced, informative instructional DVD.

As a hobbyist, I wasn't sure what to expect. All in all, I am very pleased that I made this purchase. I really appreciated the equipment breakdown and the added depth provided through example applications for each assembly. Each section of the video provides demonstrations in efficiency that help establish a higher level of quality in a production pursuit. The chapter structure also makes it very easy to refer back to key areas of interest without being bogged down by extra details.

The DVD provides added value by going beyond basic equipment and setup and touching on fundamental theories of the approach. You get the why's in addition to the how's of Doug Jensen's production setup.

The heart of the DVD is really dedicated to what Doug Jensen describes as the most effective and efficient Light Rig for shooting documentaries. It is possible to get great results with more constraints: Guerrilla style production if that's what you want to call it. Of course, this approach could be a DVD all its own which I would love to see.

All in all, a worthy purchase. Based on what I've learned here, I expect the production value of my interviews to reach a higher bar thanks to this informative material.
