The adjustable red LED is a real nice feature when ranging over bright snow fields.

I have owned the Vortex Ranger 1000 for probably a little over 6 months and I use it regularly shooting at the range. I routinely range distances anywhere from 600-1000 yards and I haven't had any problems. It will read out past 1000 under optimal conditions (I got 1157 once). It is very easy to operate (I'd say idiot-proof, but apparently not) and the ranging isn't slow. It fits like a glove in my hand, and something else to mention is that the rubber coating doesn't feel cheap! It really feels solid like it will last. You can see the ranging reticle very clearly too when it's bright outside. Also included is a nice case for it. This is by no means THE BEST rangefinder out there, but for the price it cannot be beaten (especially now that it's even cheaper than when I bought it)!!! I would definitely recommend this rangefinder, it's a great buy.

I typically use with a Savage 110BA 338 Lapua for ranges between 400 and 700 yards and this is the range finder for me. I was originally sold on the red display vs. the standard black, etc. The display is a little quick so you have to pay attention, but it is accurate. And it adjusts for "line of sight", meaning at different angles, metric vs. yards, etc. In my opinion, the best buy for the money compared to the competition. Light weight, one common battery (that seems to last forever?), durable, water resistant, and accurate for making adjustments to my scope.

My Wife & I looked @ several different ones in different stores for a month. This one was +++ in an optic with the adjustable LED crosshair that was adjustable. In Arizona the weather can bite you at the wrong time even though we have a bunch of sun bright days. Very Good optic even though it may be a little pricey for some people.

i bought this for golf and not hunting as it has a lifetime warranty,it has been fantastic and very accurate. sometimes does not pick up the flag on 1st lick but if you use scan mode then its easy. very simple to use and lightweight.

I own three different rangefinders, this is number four. I really like the feel of this unit in my hand. I compared the Vortex with my Bushnell fusion unit and the Vortex had a faster response, the fusion did give readings from farther distances though. I was able to get a reading of 1187 yards with the vortex on a cliff face.
The Vortex is great for the price and it will make a great "hunting" rangefinder. I love the compact size, it rides in a FHF case on my pack strap nicely.
The adjustable red LED is a real nice feature when ranging over bright snow fields.

Excellent product. I have ranged accurately out to 783 yards on bright objects like light bushes and patches of snow, and out to 486 yards on deer. Simple to use, adjust, and customize with preferred units of measure and readout brightness. I have dropped it from a tree stand, into mountain streams, landed on while tumbling down the same mountain and it hasn't died yet. Haven't had to use the LEGENDARY warrantee. This is my second Vortex product, it definitely will not be my last.

This is an excellent rangefinder. I have not had any problems ranging objects out to 900 yards. I have not yet been able to test it to 1000 yards, however I presume it will work well.

I have ranged trees, bushes, rocks, cars, and buildings and it has worked perfectly every time. The only thing that I was not able to range was a body of water. I did not expect it to be able to perform this action because the water is obviously a horizontal surface, but I tried anyway.

The display is very easy to interpret and the modes are very helpful when ranging with incline or line of sight.

In my opinion, the two best features of this rangefinder are the compact size and the unbeatable warranty. This unit is much smaller than other units I have used in the past and is a great improvement when carrying a lot of gear. I hope I never need to use the warranty, but it is nice to know it is there.

Great, very small range finder. Perfect for bow hunting where I typically wear tighter clothing in the earlier season. I'm not crazy about the CR1845r02343 battery, but I haven't had to change it yet. also can't beat the Vortex Warrenty!
