5.0 out of 5 stars For those really willing to trust God
I just watched this movie and was moved to great tears over it. It brought back the memories of my dad so loving caring for my mom through her cancer and death no matter what others thought. The main thing we all need to know is that God promises never to leave nor forsake. We have never been told we won't have to go through, but that He will always be there along...

1.0 out of 5 stars Do Not See This Movie
This movie is one of the worst films I ever seen in my life. The whole movie has this idea about not controling your own life, that you are a failing person who can't control there own lifes and that God should control everything you do in your life. The plot of the movie makes the viewer fall sadden for this poor women who gets a serious illness and around it place...

I just watched this movie and was moved to great tears over it. It brought back the memories of my dad so loving caring for my mom through her cancer and death no matter what others thought. The main thing we all need to know is that God promises never to leave nor forsake. We have never been told we won't have to go through, but that He will always be there along side. He can't take over if we don't let Him. It's a wonderful movie for those in need of faith and for those who only profess to be christians and have faith but don't really know God, and great for those of us who truly love God and cherish reminders of His mercy and grace. It's a must see.

5.0 out of 5 stars A beautiful, touching story of God's care and strength, February 25, 2005
This review is from: A Vow to Cherish [VHS] (VHS Tape)
First of all, to the "Kid"----I probably once believed as you, that my life is mine to control, no matter what the circumstances, no matter how difficult. But, oh, the peace and blessings I received when I learned to rest in God's care in times of trouble. We are not robots, remote-controlled by some supreme being, as the "Kid" would suggest that this film is attempting to present; on the contrary, God nurtures and guides us when we are weak, as any father would his beloved chilren---for after all, we ARE His children.

I truly loved this film! I would suggest it to any married couple and to any couple planning or considering marriage, because it presents a touching lesson in faith and the fact that marriage vows are a loving, binding contract and are to be cherished as such. I'm sad to say that I had probably become slack in my ideas of such things as marriage vows in today's society, as divorce is so common today and so many marriage vows are taken very lightly. But this film was a reminder that the instructions in the Scriptures in regards to marriage have really not been altered through the centuries, and remain a serious commandment to commitment. It's a beautiful film which touches on so many aspects of married and family life, with God as the essential tie that binds them together. Ken Howard is as handsome and wonderful as ever, and Ozzie Davis is fantastic as his neighbor and mentor through his troubling times.
I highly recommend it----and, yes, like other reviewers have suggested----keep your Kleenex handy!

5.0 out of 5 stars WONDERFUL MOVIE!!!!!!, December 21, 2004
This review is from: Vow to Cherish (DVD)
I cannot say adequately how wonderful this movie was. It touched my heart in a great way. I agree with the person who said that the kid who wrote the bad review lost the whole point of the movie. It is about real human struggles and pain. It shows how we all are human and we all have a great need for God. It shows that we can't do life alone, and that God truly will never leave us or forsake us. We have to run to Him. We must place our burdens on Jesus' strong shoulders because we were never meant to carry them alone. He truly offers us a peace that passes all understanding when we give our worries and hardships to Him. It illustrates the devotion of a husband to his wife through "sickness and health, in good times and bad," as he leans on the Lord for his strength. I really think all familys should watch this together as it is clean, has an awesome message, and will hopefully help people to have an even deeper appreciation of the ones they love!!!!! Everyone really needs to watch this movie. I cried like a baby because it really touched me in a powerful way.

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Movie, December 19, 2004

The person or rather the "Kid" wrote the review telling people not to see this movie I think missed the whole point of the story and should watch it again. This story was not about giving up. Alzheimer's Disease is hardly one that I would say so far no one in the medical world has found a cure for. It shows the deep faith and deep love the husband had for his wife and for his belief in Christ. We are all handed some cross or burden to bear and apparently this "Kid" has yet to go thru something so strong as this story to test his faith. And if nothing else, it holds value as a family movie for once with clean language.
Please, do watch the movie.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Vow to Cherish, February 20, 2005
This review is from: Vow to Cherish (DVD)
Get the tissues out, this is one great movie. It asks tough questions, and gives full proof (timeless) answers. The movie engages you and you become one with it. It is a movie you will want to share with others. This movie will make you a better person. It gives strength (through surrender) and triumph from love and fellowship with one another.
P.S. I think I saw the (Kid) in Church this morning (NOT)

5.0 out of 5 stars One of Billy Graham's best yet!, September 18, 2006
By
This review is from: Vow to Cherish (DVD)
This is I think the best Billy Graham film up to date. The acting is superb and natural. The whole movie flows so smooth that it is so enjoyable to watch. This movie is very mature and well done. I think John Schmidt II is a real talent.

MOST IMPORTANTLY,the message of this movie is one of the most inspiring I have ever seen. You see the transforming power of the good news of the gospel in different peoples lives in a very realistic way. We saw how each character are in danger of destroying their own lives without the love of God touching their hearts. The main male character would have become unfaithful if not for his repentence to come back to God. His repentence was not just in words or feeling, but in his recommittment to his wife. You also see the brother of the main male character being changed by God, turning from his hedonistic life and start to live for God.

This movie inspired me to cherish my own vow to my wife and to love her selflessly because God loved me trillion times more. I agree with one of the reviewers that all engaged or married couples should see this movie.

secular movies can be very entertaining and well filmed. However, after seeing Billy Graham's film, I realized secular movies have oftentime left me with no peace but a craving for more entertainment if I don't protect my heart and mind when I am watching them.

This movie is inspiring and encouraging. Easily one of my favorite.
