This is the best Spanish-English dictionary I have found. Not only does the dictionary give you the literal meaning of each word, but it adds common phrases, even colloquial ones, that are used with the word. When reading Spanish/English literature, this feature of the dictionary helps immensely in your comprehension of the non-native language.

Vox makes several different editions of Spanish-English dictionaries, so if you found one in the bookstore, make sure it is exactly what you are ordering here. (I didn't!). This dictionary is OK, but the type is a little funky and small. The English usage is British, as you will perceive by all the -ours, and -ises. Also the first section is English-Spanish, and the second is Spanish-English, the reverse of most dictionaries. I am happy enough with this since I am a casual student of Spanish. Heavy users may want one with better looking type and American English.
