4.0 out of 5 stars Classic Aurora sci-fi kit, from recreated mold, January 30, 2006
This review is from: Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea Seaview by Polar Lights (Toy)
I remember building the original Aurora version of this kit back in 1971. In the mid-70s, the kit was revised to include a larger ocean-floor base originally used in Aurora's Sealab kit. This model replicates the original "small-base" version. Another thing to keep in mind is that this model is of the original 8-window film version of Seaview, not the 4-window TV series version that had the Flying Sub bay added under the bow.

This kit is like the original Aurora Kit # 253. I would not consider this a toy as such but part of 1960 TV entertainment history. Breakable and has small parts.

It's never too late to have a happy childhood. Before Captain Kirk had his Enterprise, Admiral Nelson had the Seaview to take him and his crew on inner space adventures. I built this as a boy and wanted to give it another try. The kit is simple and straightforward and assembles into a good replica of the early version of the supersubmarine. With some basic hobby supplies, a little model paint, and a few hours of patience, you can have a cool piece of late 1950s scifi industrial design for your desk or bookcase.
