I bought this film purely out of the blue, I was just looking at different films starring Laurence Olivier, and I'm sure glad I did, I discovered this little gem of a film which was shockingly terrific, for a TV movie. Sir Laurence Olivier plays Clifford Mortimer a blind, cantankerous English Barrister who enjoys arguing and preening his garden. Alan Bates plays John Mortimer a loving, and devoted son who's close relationship with his father sometimes annoys his wife Elizabeth, played by Jane Asher. And Finally, Elizabeth Sellars plays the Mother, devoted wife, a very loving Mother, and friend. This is a charming made for TV movie, based on the REAL LIFE relationship between John Mortimer, and his father. It's a film you'll never forget.
