A different project for Sandi,
By A Customer
This review is from: Le Voyage (Audio CD)
By the early 90's, Sandi's projects were becoming predictable. They were wonderful, but the song selection was becoming routine: you knew where an upbeat song was and that the power ballad would be the third track in. Dealing with personal problems, Sandi embarked on her most challenging and rewarding CD to date. This is not just 10 songs, but it tells a story. This is pilgrim's progess set to music. After the Prolouge, Sandi invites the listener to join Companion and go through the "Little Narrow Gate." Travel with Companion through the "Forest of Fears," to the "Tenderlands" and beyond, always traveling until they reach the Homplace. For the most part, this is a more acoustic album than people are use to hearing from Sandi. It is filled with wonderful songs like "Hand on My Shoulder" and "No Place To Lay My Head," all the while, taking you on this wonderful journey. What a challenge this CD is for the listener who dares to find themselves on their own journey!

1993 Pilgrim's Progress Album,
By
This review is from: Le Voyage (Audio CD)
"Le Voyage" is unlike any other Sandi Patty album and it is one of her best. This pilgrim's journey through a connected series of challenging tunes (all by Greg Nelson and Bob Farrell) is a gentle, yet unsettling, musical path through the dangers, fears and confusion of spiritual progress. Sandi is actually the narrator in the sung role of "Traveler". There is also a companion book published by Word, a "Making of Le Voyage" video and a ballet video. Falling Forward

Never have I listened to a CD that actually took me on a trip. I bought this album when I was going through one of the worst times in my life. I really didn't know what to expect, but as I listened to the record, and read the lyrics in my tiny bedroom, the music took me to a far away place. The title couldn't be more acurate. I feel as though this cd is a must for any Sandi collection. Different than any of her other albums, old or new. I only hope it can take you the places it has taken me. By the way, am I the only one who noticed how much track 7 (the dilemma) sounds like the theme from Beverly Hills 90210?

Originality and innovation makes this possibly Sandi's best to date,
This review is from: Le Voyage (Audio CD)
The only two traditional studio albums I think can contend with this one for the best of Sandi's career, which were also released around the same era, are "Another Time, Another Place" and "Find IT ON the Wings."
"Le Voyage" is an extremely captivating journey, much in the likes of "Pilgrim's Progress," that lets you follow a young woman through her faith, trials and tribulations, until her final perilous journey. From the instrumental prologue and the quiet, serene "Little Narrow Gate" to the anthems "Home Will Find You" and "Long Look" to the power ballad "Hand on my Shoulder" to the Amy Grant-esque "The Dilemma" all the way until the stirring closing number "No Place To Lay My Head," this album is perfectly sequenced to tell a story with a beginning, middle, and end. The music is very unique, and unlike anything I think I've ever heard Sandi do. There are slower ballads mixed with upbeat, inspiring numbers. The styles tend to stray from the traditional, church-geared Christian music into more of a pop-sound (she sort of started doing this with "Another Time, Another Place"), but the lyrics never waver from a theologically sound truth. The spiritual elements of the story are symbolic at times, but other times explicitly stated and addressed. (I like a good mixture of this, as it doesn't shove the religious elements down your throat, but still acknowledges faith and the cross and praises God.) I am not sure the reviewer below and I were listening to the same album. I never once found myself bored when listening to the album. This is an album with great music, but lyrics that deserve attention and need to be digested to get the full effect. I challenge everyone to listen to this album, and I guarantee you will find your story amongst the lyrics. I know I did. Also recommended...read the "Le Voyage" companion book. It gives more insight to the album's concept, and I'm sure you will find even more of your own story as you read about Traveller's journey. A superb effort from Sandi Patty that is extremely overlooked. Definitely one of, if not, her best.

I was hoping for better when I bought this CD, but I found that it more boring than uplifting.
