5.0 out of 5 stars Virtual Reality Is Real, April 26, 2005
This review is from: Vr-5 (DVD)
This ingenious, innovative and imaginative SF series was underrated, unappreciated and largely undiscovered. Lori Singer sensitively portrays the lonely genius Sydney Bloom, who doesn't comprehend her own potential. Michael Easton is the perfect Duncan - the savvy, empathic and dedicated childhood friend to Sydney. Anthony Stewart Head is every bit the handsome hunk of the Taster's Choice Commercials and the intelligent and suave mentor of Buffy the Vampire Slayer - rolled into one!

From the riveting pilot's original airing on March 10, 1995 to the first run of the last episode on May 12, 1995, I was enraptured by the imagination of the writers and their ability to make it all believable.

The special effects were ingenious and unjudgeable - being that they were meant to portray various views into the inner workings of the subconscious minds of Sydney's targets. The sky was the limit - and the limit was explored in every episode.

Sadly, Fox Television once again grew impatient too soon and cancelled the show without even a complete season in the can. I still marvel that they stuck with The X-Files long enough for it to catch on, when they have cancelled so many excellent shows with much less consideration.

Please find it in your heart to seek out this series on DVD. If you haven't seen it, you really must!

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best sci-fi shows of the Eighties., October 25, 2004
This review is from: Vr-5 (DVD)
I would give my left arm to see this show released on DVD, perhaps even a kidney as well. It is an intricate and complex show, fun and incredibly smart. The special effects aren't particularly good, but the plot more than makes up for that lack. Lori Singer (post Footloose), Michael Easton (pre Total Recall) and Anthony Stewart Head (pre Buffy) also make up the ultimate in killer cast. Thirteen episodes was nowhere near enough for this fantastic show, but that short run should make it easy to release. PLEEEEAAASSEE.....

5.0 out of 5 stars Like Max Headroom - before its time, November 25, 2005
This review is from: Vr-5 (DVD)
Last time we left the Bloom family, Sydney's mom was stuck in VR...what a horrible way to then pull the plug on the series! It's too bad that FOX couldn't allow this show to cement its following; it's one that needed a bit more time to gather its audience. I remember it preceded The X-Files, so it did have that advantage.

Hopefully, it will come out on DVD - dare I even hope for a reunion show?
