We bought this at a toy store nearby b/c my baby was mesmerized by the lights on the screen. She's fascinated with the real laptops we have at home and we thought this might be an entertaining toy. She was about 7-8 months at that time and even though the minimum recommended age for this toy starts at 6 months, she really wasn't all that interactive with the laptop at the beginning. She did like to close the top down a lot and as other reviewers have mentioned, she also snapped her fingers in the process a couple of times but she didn't cry too much about the ouchies and it didn't deter her from continuing to play with the laptop. Now at 10 months, she can be much more engaged and the laptop can usually keep her interest for a good 8 minutes -- just enough time for us to scarf down our meal at the table while we all sit down together. This video shows her at the dining table in her highchair. She likes to bash the keys and watch the lights come on while listening to the music. There are 3 modes to the laptop but we usually leave it at the music mode -- unless she decides to explore the switch on the side -- the other 2 modes are probably more appropriate for older toddlers who are learning shapes, feelings and common objects/sounds. Will they really learn what the laptop is supposedly teaching? I'm not sure but I do love that the volume options aren't too loud, the keys/mouse are easy to manipulate and this is one durable laptop that has survived many, many, MANY falls to the floor from the highchair!!

This toy is wonderful. We just got it last night and the instant the screen lit up and started making noise and playing music, my 15 month old daughter just...clicked. She started dancing and pressing buttons opening and closing the laptop...and just about everything she could think of. And when it was still turned on and she closed the laptop, it says "goodbye" and my baby responded every time. I wouldn't say that it is educational for an infant. It is a little educational for my toddler. But I think it would be even more educational for a toddler a little more older than 15 months.
I am glad I bought this for my daughter. She is really enjoying it.

I bought this as a Christmas gift for my then 9 month old daughter. She loved it instantly. Only problem is that my daughter does like to close the top because it seems so fun to her to do. But, she closes it with her other hand holding the bottom down for balance and easily smashes her little fingers. Very painful! My daughter doesn't cry about much, but she definitely cried real tears when her little fingers got smashed! I saw another review about this same problem before purchasing, but didn't think much of it. It's happened more than once and 3 months later my daughter still plays with it, but definitely doesn't have the same interest as she originally did. Overall I think it's an adorable concept and it is entertaining...but would be even better if they would fix it so that babies can't close it themselves.

this computer is great for teaching young children. Easy to handle and the mouse is adorable. I also like the color feature, pink for little girls.

I agree with a reviewer of the boys' version of this toy that the sound effects are simply too random for a child to make the connection between their actions and the toy's reaction. On the first press of a button, the voice tells the shape of the button; on the second press, the image on the button; on the third press, the image on the grid-monitor that corresponds to the button position. ...and that's just when the laptop is in "explore" mode. When my daughter received this at 6 months old (the minimum age suggested), she was TERRIFIED of it. She seemed to take issue with disembodied voices...music is no issue, but when a voice talks to her and there's no face it freaks her out. Now, almost a year later, she is interested in it again. She just spent 10 minutes or so lying on her belly smacking at buttons as the laptop spouted at her. I seriously doubt that at 17 months she understands what it's talking about even now, but it makes noise and has lights and things that move on it, so it occupies her. The most interaction she has with it is to sometimes say 'bye' when she shuts the lid and the voice says 'goodbye'.
I didn't like this toy when we received it, and I don't like it much more now...but I inherently dislike toys that only DO stuff and don't encourage a child to do something. This toy leaves NOTHING to the imagination and I seriously doubt if it will ever teach her anything other than that it makes sounds. Still...it keeps her busy while I work, at least. There are plenty of toys out there that will do as much (little) as this toy. If you really want to get your child started 'using' a computer this early, get them an actual educational game and a toddler keyboard to plug in to your computer.

My 7 month old loves this toy. Can play for hours. The only thing they dont mention is that they can close their little fingers and hands in it. We tested it and it does hurt quite a bit when you push down on it. Which my daughter did within 5 mins of first playing with it, but has not done so since.

My daughter loves this! She still gets it out from the toy box from time to time. The screen lights up different patterns when you press the buttons or the mouse. If not played with for 30 secs or so, it sings a song and shuts itself down to save batteries. Sometimes it gets itself stuck and keeps replaying "Are you home?" over and over, but just turn it off and on again and it's fine. The sticker above the mouse on the right is where they can select play or music or whatever different modes. Well, that sticker didn't last long. Thankfully it was the only sticker on it though.

I bought this baby laptop to keep my 8 month old from hitting my laptop. She loves this. She hits the keys and looks up at the screen to watch the lights flash. I like that it has a sleep mode to save battery life. It is very sturdy, made of thick plastic and has no sharp edges.

This was a gift for my 1 year old daughter who was obsessed with my husbands laptop at the time. She loved this toy for a long, long time. She felt like she had her own laptop. She also learned from it quite a bit. Overall a really great toy for a toddler.

I got this for my 5 month old because she was always wanting to touch my laptop and she loves it! She loves that she has her own laptop like mommy! She's 7 months now and still plays with it all the time.
