5.0 out of 5 stars Favorite Toy, September 13, 2005
This review is from: Vtech - Crazy Legs Learning Bugs (Toy)
I had bought this toy for my son when he was 10 months old. He figured out immediately (after watching me a few times) how to pull the bug around on the floor. The toy rolls very easily on the ground, even on high pile carpets. When you set it to music mode and just pull it... the little legs clack around and it plays a TON of fun songs. He LOVEs to do this. over, and over and over again. WHen he comes home from daycare this is one of the first toys he plays with. The toy is very durable, as it has also been carried (and dropped), drug up and down the steps, and pulled outside. The music is not too loud, but it's loud enough that he still can hear it. Each of the shapes, have a different number and type of bug on it. This toy has several different learning modes, for counting, follow the leader, ABC's, music, teaches different kinds of bugs, etc. RIght now, he's almost a year, he really just enjoys the lights and music.. and the satisfaction that he can pull a toy along all by himself, just like his mom!

1.0 out of 5 stars disappointed, January 12, 2009
= Durability:3.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:1.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:1.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Vtech - Crazy Legs Learning Bugs (Toy)
My son was given the Vtech Crazy Legs Bug as a Christmas gift and we have been disappointed (and annoyed) from the first moment it arrived. First of all, the toy turned on in shipping - the "on - off" level is really loose - so the box was singing when we got it home. It really hasn't stopped since. You only have to THINK about this toy and it starts singing the most annoying song (and the only song?) about sorting shapes. The legs have shapes on then that are supposed to attach to the matching shaped lights - which is a good idea - but the execution was no good. It's hard for me to insert the shapes let alone my 11 month old - plus the shapes can only connect on one side where there are magnets. The largest light on the toy is on the top of the bug - naturally you'd think that you can touch it at will to maybe make the bug sing or something but you'd be wrong - when you touch the light (which is the only one my son is really all that interested in messing with) the bug says "uh oh" and then laughs like they've done something wrong. It's semi-condesending.
I appreciate the thought and the gift but I wanted to post a comment so others would know before hand to save their money and buy something else.

2.0 out of 5 stars Annoying and Frustrating - not a good cause and effect toy, January 15, 2006
By
geeper (Denver, CO) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Vtech - Crazy Legs Learning Bugs (Toy)
I bought this toy a few days ago for my one year old son and just finished repackaging it to return it to the store. We gave it a good try for a few days (I'd rather keep a toy that atleast has some potential than return it), but it was just too frustrating.

It seems they were trying to do too much with this toy. Is it a pull toy, cause/effect toy, or a shape sorter? Well it doesn't do any of those things well. It doesn't roll well, the buttons are hard to push (probably in part because it is on wheels, but also even if you push the buttons all the way, it may or may not activate it), and the shapes come out when the wheels roll or the top button is pushed - accompanied by an annoying "WHOOPS!". Part of the programming, but the "WHOOPS" & "shape-sorter" song is too frequent, seemingly random (you can't cut off the song with the push of a button) and very annoying. I thought maybe my son just needs to be a little older (he loves cause & effect devices & toys (remote controls, push button phones, dvd player, etc), but the "effect" part of this toy is way too inconsistent. I think the most enjoyment he got from this toy was picking it up and tossing it.

I gave this toy two stars for the cute design & good quality - it's very solid & well made, but it is too annoying & I think you're better off buying some other toy(s) instead for your little one.
