Product Description

Editorial Review

This combo toy has a lot to offer: a walker, a ride-on cruiser, and a detachable activity center with big colorful buttons and knobs designed for learning. The activity center, which attaches to the toy in walker or cruiser mode, offers real horn sounds, light-up buttons, a shift gear with fun sound effects, and two modes of play--talking or melody sound effects. Children can enjoy the activities while walking or riding (although they are slightly harder to reach from the walking position), or they can simply cruise. Cleverly designed, this toy offers plenty of opportunity for motor skills development, sensory stimulation, and imaginative and independent play. An adult will need to switch the toy between its walking and cruising modes. --Jane Snyder

3.0 out of 5 stars just not pleased, November 4, 2002

I'm so surprised the other people liked this because there is SO much wrong with it.
1. In the riding position it is so wide my 12 mo. old can't even straddle it.
2. In the pushing position the car's nose is right on the ground so it can only be used on a hard floor. When he tried to push it on the carpet the nose caught in the carpet and the toy and baby all flipped forward.
3. The activity thing only says dumb stuff. Every button says, "Let's go to the...(farm, doctor, etc.)
4. The blinking eyes are cute except that they are red and the child can't even see them because they are facing down when pushing and under the activity panel when riding.
5. When the panel is attached to the steering wheel you have to hold it still w/ one hand and play w/ the other because it's not attached in place and spins in a full circle.
6. and finally, the steering wheel itself turns but it does not make the wheels turn which is confusing and frustrating to his 2 yr. old cousin.
The only good things about this toy is that it is easy to convert from push to ride and it's so darn cute. I bought it half off and I'm still returning it.

1.0 out of 5 stars Very disappointed!, July 12, 2003

= Durability:2.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:1.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:1.0 out of 5 stars

I bought this toy today but I am not keeping it. The activity panel is OK and works fine when it is detached from the steering wheel. However, when the cruiser is in the ride-on position, the activity panel is not fixed on the steering wheel. Instead it swirls every which way, making it very difficult for a child to sit on the cruiser and keep his balance. At some point my son's hand slipped from the side of the activity panel and he would have fallen down had I not stood right next to him. He got scared and started crying for me to take him off the cruiser.
I bought this toy after talking to a store employee, but I whished I had checked the reviews on the web site before I made the purchase. I have found another walker that has great reviews and will make the exchange tomorrow.

4.0 out of 5 stars Cruiser has hidden dangers!, January 11, 2003
= Durability:3.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:4.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Vtech First Steps 3-in-1 Cruiser (Toy)
My child has loved this product since the day we brought it home. We recently converted it to the cruiser (sit-down). The other day, my son stepped through the blue handle. He went through all the way to his thigh. We couldn't get him out because his knee wouldn't fit back through. We managed to get his pants rolled up, and we used a lot of baby oil. Still he was stuck. By this time my son was screaming, terrified and in pain. Just as my husband was about to break the handle off, I closed my eyes and yanked as hard as I could and my son was freed. However, he has many dark bruises all around his knee from getting caught and us trying to gently pry him out. The handle of this toy should be redeveloped to include an indented grip, but not an actual handle! It was very scary. My son won't play with the toy anymore!
