4.0 out of 5 stars Cruiser has hidden dangers!
My child has loved this product since the day we brought it home. We recently converted it to the cruiser (sit-down). The other day, my son stepped through the blue handle. He went through all the way to his thigh. We couldn't get him out because his knee wouldn't fit back through. We managed to get his pants rolled up, and we used a lot of baby oil. Still he was stuck...

3.0 out of 5 stars just not pleased
I'm so surprised the other people liked this because there is SO much wrong with it.
1. In the riding position it is so wide my 12 mo. old can't even straddle it.
2. In the pushing position the car's nose is right on the ground so it can only be used on a hard floor. When he tried to push it on the carpet the nose caught in the carpet and the toy and baby all...

I'm so surprised the other people liked this because there is SO much wrong with it.
1. In the riding position it is so wide my 12 mo. old can't even straddle it.
2. In the pushing position the car's nose is right on the ground so it can only be used on a hard floor. When he tried to push it on the carpet the nose caught in the carpet and the toy and baby all flipped forward.
3. The activity thing only says dumb stuff. Every button says, "Let's go to the...(farm, doctor, etc.)
4. The blinking eyes are cute except that they are red and the child can't even see them because they are facing down when pushing and under the activity panel when riding.
5. When the panel is attached to the steering wheel you have to hold it still w/ one hand and play w/ the other because it's not attached in place and spins in a full circle.
6. and finally, the steering wheel itself turns but it does not make the wheels turn which is confusing and frustrating to his 2 yr. old cousin.
The only good things about this toy is that it is easy to convert from push to ride and it's so darn cute. I bought it half off and I'm still returning it.

1.0 out of 5 stars Very disappointed!, July 12, 2003

I bought this toy today but I am not keeping it. The activity panel is OK and works fine when it is detached from the steering wheel. However, when the cruiser is in the ride-on position, the activity panel is not fixed on the steering wheel. Instead it swirls every which way, making it very difficult for a child to sit on the cruiser and keep his balance. At some point my son's hand slipped from the side of the activity panel and he would have fallen down had I not stood right next to him. He got scared and started crying for me to take him off the cruiser.
I bought this toy after talking to a store employee, but I whished I had checked the reviews on the web site before I made the purchase. I have found another walker that has great reviews and will make the exchange tomorrow.

Still he was stuck. By this time my son was screaming, terrified and in pain. Just as my husband was about to break the handle off, I closed my eyes and yanked as hard as I could and my son was freed. However, he has many dark bruises all around his knee from getting caught and us trying to gently pry him out. The handle of this toy should be redeveloped to include an indented grip, but not an actual handle! It was very scary. My son won't play with the toy anymore!

4.0 out of 5 stars Great toy for the Price, April 11, 2003

I got this toy for my daughter when she was 9 months old and she loves it! Even at 18 months she uses it because is allows her to run so fast. It is solid and durable and can take her ramming it into anything and being on cement or left outside. Also, if your child is tall, the high handle makes it easier to use as a walker. This walker is nice and high and she doesn't have to bend over it order to rest her hands on handle. We have never kept the activity table attached, but keep it as a separate toy for the car etc. It is easy to use because the buttons push so easily. As a ride on toy, our problem has been that she refuses to see it as a ride on toy! Every time my husband changes it, she pulls up the handle and tries to use it as a walker. There is some truth to the comments made that it will tip foward on high carpet. We have mostly tile and hardwood, so this wasn't as much of a problem for us and in summer, she uses it outside.

2.0 out of 5 stars Hidden dangers, June 4, 2003

My son received this ride on for his first birthday. It looked very appealing and fun, but during our first day playing with it he tried to get on himself and stepped into the handle and got stuck. After plenty of baby oil I finally got him out, but he is now left with some really dark bruises on his leg. It was very heartbreaking to see him screaming because it hurt to move his leg. V Tech needs to look into something a bit safer for the pull up handle.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Best Birthday Gift!, October 8, 2002
By A Customer

My son received this 3-in-1 Cruiser for his first birthday and it's been his favorite gift! He loves to push the buttons on the activity center and watch the lights light up. When I convert it to the car, he loves to ride it!
The blue handle/seat lifts up and down when it's converted into the car and my son is in to opening and closing things that he loves to put toys under neath the blue seat. It keeps him busy for a while by just lifting and closing down that seat!
It's a wonderful toy to take along in the car when we go visit the grandparents. He never gets bored with it!
I've had several used push toys given to me as hand-me-downs and none seem to attract my sons attention like this one does. I also feel good about my son pushing it across our hardwood floors, it doesn't go too fast for him.
Best of all, it's well worth the price IF a grandparent gives it to your little one as a gift!

2.0 out of 5 stars I agree- not pleased either, January 17, 2003

I was not pleased with this toy either. My daughter received this for her 1st birthday. It looked so neat. She tries to play with it but it's so awkward she just gives up. It's OK ( not great) as a walker, but as a ride on, it just doesn't make sense. She has a hard time straddling it, and her knees get caught underneath the keyboard. It converts easily from walker to ride-on and it seems safe and durable, but if I had to do it again, I would buy a walker and ride on separately.

This toy grows with your little one. It is super! The activity center is educational and fun. The price is great for a product that can change with your child's needs.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good for 12-24 months w/ one neat feature, April 26, 2010
= Durability:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:4.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Vtech First Steps 3-in-1 Cruiser (Toy)
This is really more (or all but one feature mentioned below) for 11-24 months than for older toddlers I think.

One thing I liked a great deal: The roller ball button plays individual notes of familiar old melodies, one note at a time for each time you press it, so that you can make the melody play out by the effort of pressing the button repeatedly.

That's actually very musically instructive, for kids that have that aptitude.

Otherwise, it is only a young toddler toy, for that time of learning to walk, and learning some basic words, and some coordination, etc. In that way, it's a decent toy.
