I bought this for our 18 month old son for Christmas. He has loved it from the first time he saw it. He loves books and being read to and I thought this would be a good toy for him since he can control the story and repeat things/functions. It reads the story to you, there are multiple songs to each book and you learn objects, animals, the alphabet, etc. It gives a book loving kid an opportunity to read books by himself and learn. Our son can identify every letter of the alphabet and is close to saying his ABC's - he absolutely loves this toy! I highly recommend this product.
As a side note, when my husband saw this he said, "I'd have never bought that!" He was surprised at how much enjoyment he's gotten out of it.

I saw this product online at Walmart. The reviews were great but the only place I was able to find it was at Amazon. I purchased this for my grandson who has just turned two. It comes with interchangeable books that store neatly in the back compartment. It has a story theme and also helps toddlers identify objects. This is one of the best gifts I could have bought. A must have!

My grandson loves this toy. He can turn it on himself, turn the pages easily, and use the toucher to hear words, sounds, and music. On the downside, he can't actually click the books into place, and the string attached to the toucher seems a bit too short. Also, book storage in the back of the unit is difficult to manage. Overall a good purchase that I would make again and do recommend.

A Christmas gift for my grandson. He seemed to like it. He is young, but will grow into it and is a great educational device. I would recommend it highly.

I got this for my 19 month old daughter who loves books for Christmas and it has been a big hit! It is really cute and has great learning features. She caught on how to use the little pointer thing right away. I love how the books store in the back of the toy and you don't have to keep up with them. I would defintely recommend this. We love VTech in our house.

My son received this item as a Christmas gift when he was 15 months old. I was immediately disappointed, because the way the product was packaged resulted in the string that holds the pointer being cut when the box was cut open. This wasn't a big deal, it just meant we had to keep track of the pointer and make sure it didn't get lost. The bigger issue is that this product simply is not well designed for toddlers, who tend to be rough with their toys. The books would generally pop out every time my son tried to turn the page. He pretty quickly lost interest because of that. Now after 8 months of very little use it is headed for the trash because the little tab that senses the books broke off when a book was removed, and now it doesn't recognize that a book is attached and therefor doesn't read it. This is the ONLY toy we've had that has broken, so I do not think my son is exceptionally rough. One other small point - the words in the introductory song are not enunciated very well. It sounds like it is saying "come and eat new friends" instead of "come and meet new friends"...everyone in my family agreed.
Had this product been better designed and more durable, I think it would have been a great toy that was both fun and somewhat educational. As it is, I am very unimpressed.

My 2 year old loves this item, I bought it for X-Mas last year and he still enjoys it. The only real down side is he is a ruff little boy and has managed to rip at least one page from the stem of each book which causes problems when the book is being read.

I was looking for a toy that would help my child learn his shapes and colors (more than just the red, yellow, blue, and square,circle, triangle). It bugs me that toys claim to teach colors and shapes and that's all they do....anyway....off that soap box :) I was excited to get this because they seemed to teach more than just the usual, and it incorporated a lot of learning styles which I wanted since my child has special needs and I appreciate all the extra help I can get. So, on to the review....

Pros:

1. It has a volume adjustment switch
2. It has music that plays that my child enjoys and it has a button you can push that asks questions "where is the...." and then the child can locate it
3. Has multiple books that can snap in and out to teach various things and there is a storage place in the back of the toy to store the books


Cons:

1. The little tool that the child holds and uses to touch the different things in the books is tied to a string that doesn't even reach all the way so there are a couple of things on each page you can't reach
2. The back falls easily if dropped (hasn't totally broken off yet though)
3. Doesn't teach colors or numbers like I thought it would...instead it teaches unrelatable items like violin, flute, harp, clarinet (which for some reason sound very similar)

Well, that's just a few of my opinions on this toy. There were some things that really bothered me, but my son enjoys it very much and he doesn't care what he learns and doesn't learn :) He does however get bugged by the fact that the thing he holds and tries to touch things with won't reach :( I'm going to have to cut it off and jimmy-rig something else I guess. Hope this helps someone.

We received this as a gift for my 2 year old granddaughter and it was barely out of the box and she was playing with it. She loves the songs and is already learning. She figured out how to change the books the first day. All of the books work just fine, it's pretty well made, the batteries are fresh and the toy is very colorful. My other daughter works in a book store and they carry this item for almost twice the price that it lists for on Amazon. It's a fun toy and should hold her interest for a while. It was well packed and arrived on time.

This is her favorite present :)
