4.0 out of 5 stars I can fix your volume problem
I read the reviews before buying this product and knew the volume was going to be an issue...I am very sound sensitive. I couldn't pass up the price so I bought it hoping I could do something to adjust the volume (and boy was it loud, you all were not kidding), and I was successful. The giraffe head EASILY comes off with the help of a screwdriver. I located the piece...

I located the piece where the volume came out and put 2 round cotton pads on the "computer" side of the head and 2 on the front of the head, but I cut a hole in one of the cotton pads for the front to fit over the speaker snugly, the other I laid on top. I realigned the screws with the holes and presto, the sound was still a little loud for my liking, but tolerable. It took me less than 10 minutes to fix. Hope this helps you.

This toy was given to my two year old on his birthday. It was difficult for him at first but he has improved his balance and coordination trying to pedal. He only spends short amounts of time on it but this is true with most things. It is also quite cute to hear him repeating the alphabet as it sings to him especially since he is a little boy not wanting to talk very much. I think it is great for his age as it does challenge him. I wish the music had a volume button as it is a little loud. It is light enough that he can drag to other rooms. Another reviewer said is was boring for his 4 year old and my little guy will probably be done with it by then but for right now he is enjoying it.

Santa gave this to my 3 yr old for Christmas. Yes she's right at the age recommendation cut off but she is below the weight maximum so we figure if she likes it, it works. And she loves it! I think it's a great way to get her extra energy out as well as it reinforces some things she's learned like the alphabet. This past summer she had trouble pedaling her tricycle but I think this coming Spring she'll have pedaling down pat and we'll just have to work on her steering. :) It's very light weight and I personally don't think it takes up much room at all. My only complaint is that it is loud but so is a 3 yr old who has nothing to do to release her energy inside during the cold winter months. I would recommend this to people.

2.0 out of 5 stars Kids will love, parents will hate, August 19, 2010
= Durability:4.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:3.0 out of 5 stars

My children LOVE this toy and it has helped them learn how to pedal.

I HATE this toy. It is loud loud LOUD. It does not turn off automatically and will keep making noise forever. When you do hit the button to turn it off it loudly announces "Goodbye" which is sure to recapture the attention of your child. Who will promptly come back to the toy and turn it back on, thus ensuring the horrible noise does not end.

Is there a parent in your life that you are mad at? This is the perfect gift for their child.

We ordered this toy for our 13mo daughter after discovering that it was her favorite toy at daycare. She can't quite reach the peddles yet, but she loves to press the buttons and dance to the abc song. I believe this is a great early learning tool for small children. Would buy this again as a gift or for our next child if the one we have is no longer operational.

I bought this because it was 50% off the price its selling for currently on Amazon. Not only was it an unbelievable deal but its a great toy. I got it as a Christmas gift for my 2 year old son. It was very easy to put together-took about 20 minutes to assemble. Its only been 3 days but he loves it and plays with it more than any toy he has ever played with lol. He is bigger than your average 2 year old (34 inches & 31lbs) and it was not too small...a great size. In fact I mentioned to my husband that smaller kids might need to grow into it even with the adjustable seat on the lowest height setting like we have it set. It is a bit loud but so is my son so it doesn't bother us. There is an automatic shut off. That is a good feature since most toddlers tend to spend a little time with all their toys then repeat. My son plays with it for 10 to 20 minutes at a times occasionally longer several times a day. He has really gotten the hang of pedaling and is engaged by the game screen. Its cool that younger kids who may need more time to learn pedaling can still use the dash buttons to play the interactive games. This is a great toy that I would recommend for toddlers 3 and under. Even at full price its still cheaper than comparable toys and you don't have to hook it up to the tv. Best of all he is not riding all around the house but still having fun safely.

Bought this from toys r us on sale. It is very loud, so much so my 21 month old daughter does not like to come close to it and when she does try to use it, the loudness is so distracting she can not learn what it is trying to teach her, so after a few minutes she walks away. The volume dominates the living room preventing watching TV or having a conversation at the same time and there is unbelievably no volume control. The peddles are free to turn without resistance. The seat does not bounce and is hard plastic. After a few minutes the unit starts flashing all the lights at the same time very fast and will not work even after replacing the batteries, until overnight, so I think we got a bad one. I checked at the store again and the other ones have the same loudness to them, as the box is cutout to let you try the buttons and hear the sounds. Regret this purchase.

I have two boys, one that is almost 2 and a 4 year old. My little boy who is almost 2 doesn't quite get the pedaling yet but he loves interacting with the lcd screen. There are many modes to play which are fun too. The maximum weight is 42 lbs, and my 4 year old only weighs 37 so I let him play on it as well. He just turned 4 in November, and he LOVES it.He loves to pedal and has no problem navigating the screen. One little change I wish were implemented - I wish the seat could be closer to the handle bars. It looks a little awkward when my almost 2 year old is sitting on it. He has to lean forward pretty far. Overall, it's a pretty cute toy and I would recommend it.

This toy never worked out of the box. It would never turn on VTech's customer service kept me waiting forever. They refused to do anything about it. I am out $50 for this thing. Don't buy it. What a horrible experience.
