I've got two issues with this toy. First, it broke right away. My kids aren't rough, and didn't abuse it, but with in a week or two the microphone shorted out. My second issue is with the music, and this is a pretty big complaint of most VTech toys across the board. The music is BAD. I'm not saying bad quality, I'm talking about playing wrong notes for traditional nursery rhymes. It's so bad that we can't even sing along to some of the tunes. I come from a very musical family, and my husband is a music educator. This drives me BONKERS! VTech would have some knock out products if they could figure out the melody for these nursery rhymes!

My son got this for his first birthday, and loves it. It's got lots of different buttons for him to push, two different modes, plus the pages of the book turn, and the buttons correspond to the page. Also, it's got a microphone that really works, and he loves to listen to himself. We've got a couple of VTech toys now, and they've held up great to banging, drooling, chewing, and just generally being beat up.

I would have liked to see a couple of changes to this, although overall it's great. 1. For a piano, I sort of expected to have a full octave of keys. With only 5, it's just a little short. I also expected one of the modes to say the color of the keys when you pressed on them.

The toy would have been fabulous except for the microphone shorting out. Now it makes this horrible, very irritating (for the parents) static sound. I may try to disable the microphone even at the risk of ruining the toy.

My granddaughters play with this only once in a while and the microphone shorted out almost immediately. Typical for made in China junk.

My 22 month old son has been playing with this since he was 4 months old. We have a second home and decided to buy a second piano for him to have at each house. He knows all the songs now and hums along. He has been using the microphone on it for over a year too. He enjoys turning the pages and pushing all the song buttons. I would have to say this is his very favorite toy. Batteries last a long time in it too!

My son loves music, so when he got this for his first birthday last September he was delighted. He likes to bring it to me so we can play with it together, but his favorite thing is the doggy control. He thinks it's so funny when he slows the music down. There is really only one downside to this toy, and that is that it is loud, even on the low setting. I had to resort to putting duct tape over the speaker to reduce the noise, but it is still a good toy overall.

New info April 8, 2011:
The microphone finally shorted out after much chewing, slobbering, and other abuse. He still enjoys playing with it though.

We got this as a present when my baby was 10 months old. She is now 1 year old in this video. VTech toys can be a hit or miss and electronic toys are not high up on my list of wants but my daughter seems to like this while I'm working in the kitchen. There are quite a few reviewers who noted that the microphone stops working -- we've had this for almost 3 months and haven't had a problem. As you can see in this video, she likes to "sing" into the mic and hear her voice amplified! I didn't think this toy would hold up but it certainly has. My daughter loves turning pages and when she first played with this, she didn't have enough finger dexterity to turn the pages by herself but now at 1, she certainly can and despite the fact that the pages look thin & flimsy, they've actually managed to stay intact!! She doesn't care so much for the puppy joystick or drumpad and prefers the light-up notes as opposed to the piano keys. She loves to hit the red note and listen to the tune of Row Row Row Your Boat sung by cats: meow, meow, meow-meow-meow, meow-meow-meow-meow-meow! She even claps along =]

This might not be the most educational toy but all in all, we've been happy with this four-star product.

My 10 month old and 4 year old L-O-V-E this toy... we didn't have it for a super long time and the microphone would get fuzzy/scratchy sounding and eventually ended up ripping off...
DESPITE THAT.. This seems to be the toy of choice...they dance, sing, play the piano and really enjoy it even though the microphone is long gone. =)

Don't know why so many people are having issues with this toy. We've had it for about six months and it's been working beautifully. Not one issue. All buttons play. It's a sturdy toy. We love it.

This is the first Vtech toy we bought for our son & it stopped working within 2 weeks of using it.
I called the customer support and they asked me to send the toy back with our postage charges.Now i need to spend [...] for post for a [...] toy.I would never buy any Vtech toy for my son without searching for the reviews.
