We bought this for our daughter about a year ago, and everyone in the house plays with it, her older and younger brothers both, and that means ages 2-5. It's held up beautifully, nothing wrong with it and it's been dragged all over the house (and car), fought over, and wrestled with and it's still going just fine.
As a plus, the mouse pad can either sit on a peg connected to the right side for easy travel stability, but for our left handed daughter, you just move it off the peg and move it on over. This is a huge plus for this system.

I purchased this product for my daughter who is about to turn 2, and she already knows some of her letters! She loves it and packs it around with her everywhere!!! The only problem I had with it, and I guess it's not really not a "problem", probably just a parent thing!, but, even at it's lowest volume setting it's still pretty loud I don't know maybe it's just that monkey, oh that monkey! - I like how it goes off by itself so the battery doesn't drain itself...very handy!!

I bought this for my 3 year old niece, and she loved it. It was her favorite gift out of all of her birthday gifts! I think it might be just a little bit advanced for her age, but it is definitely something she can use for quite some time.

I can't say enough good things about this little computer! I'm gonna be very honest... it took me a while to buy it because (and I hate to say it now) but I just thought the thing looked cheesy (cheap)... But man was I wrong! We've had it a while now and my daughter still plays with it for extended periods. It really is a GREAT toy! It is very educational and helps with hand eye coordination -via its mouse training applications. I only regret having waited so long to buy it -recommend for kids 3 and 4.
Other great features are: it's incredibly durable, you can switch mouse for use on either side and it has an automatic shutoff after about 3 minutes. Only bad things about it are: it is loud even on lowest setting (as many reviewers have mentioned) and the screen is small (but I dare say there isn't one out there with a bigger screen for this price :-). Seriously, if your child is 3 to 4 you won't regret buying it. ** And I also need to set AEH "Mom of Toddler" straight; the child does NOT need to know how to read in order to enjoy the computer. Child can scroll through and pick which application he/she wants to play with the monkey as his/her guide. **

I bought this for my 3 1/2 year old daughter for Christmas 2008. I am homeschooling her and wanted a tool to help her recognize letters and numbers while having fun. So while she can't yet use many of the games I have to just rave that this is the best product that I've used that allows her to interact AND learn her numbers and letters. It also lets her pretend to be just like mommy while she "works on her computer".
Many people brought up the issue of the volume button and that isn't a problem for us. She knows it gets taken away if she pushes that button and that only Mommy can change the volume. We use many other things to help with letter recognition but this is by far the most effective and just today we had a blast playing on the laptop!

My daughter received this for her 2nd birthday and it was too complicated for her to use so she put it down and didn't touch it again until she was 3. Now that she is 3 she knows her ABCs and numbers but still can't navigate this computer. She likes to turn it on and listen to it pronounce the letters but that's about it. Also if you turn it on it continues to play annoying music until you turn it off again!! I think this might be fun for an older child but definately not for younger children. Perhaps it should be for 4-6 year olds. Anything younger than that seems like a waste to me.

I bought this for my daughter ([...] at Target in pink -it's also available in brighter colors and in a Winnie the Pooh for $2-$3 more, pretty much the same type of thing, possibly different characters...I didn't check).
Someone reviewed that they got it for a 2 year old. The age range says, 3-6...I don't think a 2 year old could navigate this level. So do yourself a favor and don't buy for the pre-potty trained set. It's a preschool-level toy laptop and it requires some logic to operate, problem-solving of the most basic level. I don't say that in a nasty way, it is what it is. I can imagine how frustrating that would be, both for parent and child, to have a toy that they can't get the knack of. My daughter is 4 and she loves it. She likes the games feature the most. I like that it was inexpensive and it looks like it's going to be able to withstand some abuse so I was totally all for it. She can play games on a real computer and this one is great because it's instant gratification. There's never going to be a virus or a loading time for this and it's something that's just for her to use. 4 different operations, about 5 things to choose from for each: ABC's, Numbers, Logic and Games. Games, of course, is what she wants to play right now. Uses batteries. Has it's own easy-to-use mouse that stores underneath. Can be left or right-handed. I wanted to play around with it, but will have to wait until she's in school -when I asked her if she could use it, she said, "Get in line, please". LOL

I purchased two of these at $19 each for my two 3-year old granddaughters. A terrific value for an educational tool/toy that helps preschoolers with early learning through 30 interactive activities/games teaching ABCs, 123s, math games, music, etc. Truly an easy `tote and go' item that keeps preschoolers occupied for hours. My 2-year old grandson is also an eager learner and uses it when his sister is at preschool!

got this for my 2.5 year old daughter less than a month ago. Though it says for kids above 3 on the package, with a little PG, she's able to do most of the activities... Initially i was a little disappointed with the screen, since it's more activity index and less screen, and the resolution looked BAD. I'd bought it after reading the reviews on Amazon and after receiving it and looking at the screen, i was gonna return it, but then thought i'd give it a try coz my kid was driving me crazy asking for a 'laptop', and whaddoyuknow, my daughter lovvves it.... took her time to learn to manoevure the mouse (she was moving it around like a regular mouse), but got the hang of it soon. Thanks to this toy (and another one i bought a few days earlier - the Leap Frog scribble and write), she now is constantly reading stuff out to us - upper and lower case. A really worthwhile investment for your kid...i just wish the background music wasn't so irritating and the screen were larger, but hey u can't beat the value for 20-something bucks.

We bought this for my daughter when she turned three. She has had so much fun with this laptop. She can play more and more of the activities as she ages. The hide-in-seek letters activity really helped her learn the last few letters she was struggling with. It's helping her learn small vs. big, eye-hand coordination, etc. The screen being small doesn't bother me like I thought it would. She can spend a good 30 minutes playing on it....such a nice break from TV! It does seem to be durable, we've had it over 3 months now and my rambunctios 18 month old son hasn't broken it yet =)
