I just bought this toy for my son, on the box it actually says 12+ months not what Amazon has listed in the details (24m-6years?). So this is a great toy for a 1yo if anyone had any doubts=-)

I got this toy for my almost 2yr old for Christmas. So far it has turned out to be a great gift. I am a little worried that she might rip one of the pages off. The pages are stiff but you know how a little can be at times. If you don't have alot of educational toys yet this would be a good one to get. It is simple but yet learning. A toy your little one can sit and play with by self after you show them what to do.

I got this for my (then) 18 month old daughter. She flipped through a few of the pages, pressed a few buttons and then lost interest. She's now 2 years old and still doesn't really play with this. At first she wanted to press the letters themselves to hear the sounds/songs and not the button above it. If I sit down with her and talk about the letter & sounds she sits and pays attention. But on her own it gets forgotten.

My 14 month old daughter loves this toy! She got it for her birthday and plays with it every day. It is quite durable...she's hauled it around the house, dropping it every few steps b/c it's a bit big for her yet. But it keeps playing! And I'm impressed with the pages, they are made out of some sort of plastic so they will last far longer than even thick paper pages would.

This is a replacement that I had to purchase, because our previous one was finally destroyed by my little one. What finally ended up failing was the switch on the right side that turns on the device and selects what mode for it to be on. Some reason my kid loves this switch and considers it as a toy within a toy and plays a little too rough with it. It took about a year a abuse before this switch started failing and made the toy sound like a record skipping. I consider a year for a $20 toy to be a good investment. The pages are durable and held up without tearing, and the paint and color did not fade or wear. I am very happy with this toy and was happy to buy this second one.

Good concept, but poorly executed,

My son received this as a gift and was immediately drawn to it. He loved all the buttons to push. Eventually, however, the toy did not live up to what it promised, particularly in the "question" mode. When it would prompt him to find something, he would accidentally hit the buttons on the turtle's feet on his way to push the button of the answer. This caused the toy to tell him that he was incorrect, when he actually knew what to answer. Basically, the bottom buttons are too easily activated and in the way. In addition, the book's pages were sometimes difficult to flip. He soon grew bored with this.

I purchased this toy to use with my a home preschool program for my children. Its really loud, for one. Also its confusing as it goes from letters to numbers randomly. You also have to hit the question mark for it to ask them to identify letters. Basically just a really loud, obnoxious toy without much point. Will be craigslisting soon.

I have had this issue with pretty much every V-Tech toy that I have ever had. The first time that the batteries died it never worked the same again. It just had to be thrown away... Before that my daughter loved this toy, and played with it non-stop.

My in laws bought this for my daughter's 1st birthday. She's now had it a few months and still enjoys playing with it. She like pressing the buttons and turning the pages, and the toy seems pretty durable. What I don't like is the volume- there is a volume adjustment button, but even on the lower setting, it's pretty loud. Sometimes my daughter (accidentally) presses the volume button and turns it up... it's incredibly loud on the higher setting. I can't imagine why any child would need a toy to be that loud that they are playing with. I've found other Vtech toys to be loud too. I wish the off button was in a different spot- my daughter often turns it off by accident and then gets frustrated because she can't get it to work. Also, the voice/music is pretty annoying. It's a nice enough toy, but not one of my or my daughter's favorites.

I bought this for my son's birthday but he only played with it for about a month. Its not very durable because the main reason he stopped playing with it is because he dropped it several times (from a short distance) but it started to not work all the time.
