My daughters system stopped working after only 2.5 months. So I looked for troubleshooting solution in internet. That what worked for us." Remove the batteries from the system....hold down the power button for a 45 sec to minute, reinsert the batteries and it should work. " I hope it will work for you too :-)

Bought the V.Smile Pocket (pink) for my 4 year old daughter for Christmas. Came with the Cinderella game, bought Aladdin, Dora, and Ariel games. I'm very impressed with their structure and patience for dealing with a young mentality on the learning curve with a new system (some games give up on you fairly early, while others just yell at you for not quickly making a choice).

This handheld game system is solid and comfortable in the hands, the lighting is good, and the button placement is comfortable and easy to manage.

Admittedly, the games I chose are a bit advanced, but still went over well, even with her frustration (very independant, does NOT want help, thank you!). Am now looking for the Care Bear and Pooh Bear games locally.

It shut down without warning only twice....when the battery which came with the system died. My daughter told me it had turned off on it's own, so I turned it back on and watched it, and off it went again. New batteries (Can't remember if I used Energizer Lithium or Energizer Titanium, but it was one of the two...I was looking for batteries designed for high tech devices), and it's done beautifully ever since.

Would buy the game system again in a heartbeat, and am strongly considering the home system, too.

My only negative has nothing to do with the unit, but the prices some sellers are charging. Wait until you can find it in the approximately $60-80 price range. $70-80 is the normal price range (and sometimes has a car adaptor included), and lower than that is a great sale. Anything higher than that is a dealer taking advantage of supply/demand. For the record, Amazon themselves don't do that.

This product is everything it's advertised to be and more. I bought it for my three-year old grandaughter and she loves it! Although it's recommended for slightly older children - I don't think you can go wrong with the entire VTech learning system.

The V.smile portable game is wonderful. My four year old just loves taking it along on errands and I enjoy the peace and quiet. After being dropped (hard) onto concrete several times it is still working perfectly so the durability is there.

My daughter got this game from her grandparents for Christmas 2 years ago and she loves it! I read the reviews and noticed people were having trouble with it shutting itself off and stopped working, we have had it shut itself off a few times but usually was because batteries were low so once we replaced them or plugged it in it was fine. It does go through batteries kind of quickly. But the games are great and my daughter loves it. It is great for long car rides, travling by plane or going to a resturant or some other place they need to sit queitly! It seems to be pretty durable my daughter has dropped hers several times and it is still working. My newphew also got one and his is still working too. The price has come down now too so when this one dies I will defineitely be buying another one!

Great toy and entertainment for the road, plane or visits. Each game has different levels and even things that can be fun for kids as young as 3. You just have to supervise getting to the game and then they are okay. The actual machine can be dropped without damage but the way the game is attached can be the devastating point. Perhaps that is partially why it is rec. for 5-8 years though many of the games are from 3 and up. We also have the reg. V-smile so I love the fact that the games are inter-changeable. In any way it is a great time for young ones.

I bought this hand held video game console for my 4 and 5 year old daughters; mostly because they already use the VSmile video game and enjoy it. I really like that they can use the same game cartridges for both, which seriously cuts down on the expense of purchasing games. So far, this has been the hit of Christmas. They already were familiar with the format of the games so the learning curve was very shallow. Being able to take the games with them to different areas of the house (like their room) has really been a big plus. They can't really play two player like they do with the stationery console but that really hasn't been an issue.

I bought this for my daughter for Christmas (she was 3 at the time), she's now 4 and still loves it! We started with 3 games, she enjoyed playing them all, as well as being able to control when she wanted to start and stop the game. She would spend a good chunk of time just turning on a game, playing for a few minutes, turning it off, changing cartridges, and starting all over with a new game. We just bought a 4th game, and it still brings her hours of entertainment! Great for getting errands done, waiting at the doctors office, or even road trips! The battery life has been pretty good, though I don't remember what type of batteries we used. Don't buy the case, though. We bought a 2 compartment lunch box. One compartment is perfect for the unit, and the smaller is great for the games. It's much cheaper and far more practical. The vsmile case doesn't have room for the games.
All in all, this is a great toy. I really see her learning while she's playing. She'll be sitting in the back seat, talking back to the unit. It'll ask her to find something that starts with the letter B. It will show a flower, a ball and a log. She'll whisper to herself "buh buh ball! Ball starts with B!" I get so proud of her for figuring it out for herself!
Absolutely worth the money!

I bought this for my daughter last Christmas, and have since added several games for her to play with. She is 5, and loves them all. Most of the games have an area where they can choose educational games to play, but she usually goes for the ones that are more fun than learning. Lately, though, she's getting the educational part down now being in Kindergarten. I wish I would've know they'd be discontinuing this system this year, as now it's harder to find the games for this one. The new handheld has a flip open screen, which might break easier, to me. This one is durable. and well built. It does not come with the power cord adapter, so you have to buy it for an additional $10-12, unless you want to burn through batteries like crazy.
