We bought this as a Christmas present for our 2 year old so she would leave us alone while we worked on our laptops. She loves changing out the activity cards, but that's about the extent of which she utilizes it. It is definitely for an older child which we knew when purchasing it. Pooh says things such as "what does the word 'balloon' start with?"which is way past her. But, we are working on identifying letters and numbers with her, so it is useful in that sense. Hopefully she will continue to use it as her knowledge of letters and spelling grows! The storage compartment for the cards is a little hard to open - handy but difficult.

This is actually a pretty decent toy, however, it is currently too difficult for my just-turned-three year olds. The 'computer' asks them to identify shapes and colors, but then expects them to spell words. They are not even using the learning cards anymore, but just turn it on to press the letters on the keyboard. I'm sure they will grow into it, but it is a little disappointing that it is too challenging for them to enjoy now, even with my assistance.

This toy asks kids what letter does balloon start with? This is too advanced for a preschooler. I WISH it had levels or gave me the ability to limit the questions to color & shape. The computer COULD HAVE BEEN a good lead way into real computers for kids but as it is now it is only a source of frustration. We will put this toy in the growing pile of toys to pull out next year, or the year after that, and hope they still work.
If you are looking for a computer type toy for a young child I do not think you can go wrong with My First Leap Pad by Leap Frog.

My son totally loves it and you should hear him squeal when, he sees it. I would recommend it. There are different events your child can partake in. My only regret is, it does not have enough activities but overall, its a great learning tool!

We've purchased other Vtech products like Vtech - Thomas & Friends - Calling All Friends Phone and Vtech - Baby's Learning Laptop, and we love Vtech.
The 15 activity cards are double-sided, so there are 30 different activities, which include spelling, letter recognition, counting, left/right, and above/below. My 3 1/2 yr old is advanced for his age, but the spelling is difficult for him. However, I would rather have it that way, instead of too easy. At least, he is learning this way. I do monitor him when he's playing with his "computer," but rather than tell him all the answers, I encourage him to try by himself. If he is really stumped, there is a button he can push for the correct answer. If he just wants to mess around, he removes the activity card, and just pushes the numbers and letters. My favorite part is the volume control switch, so it's not so loud. This is not a toy he will outgrow for at least a year or two, so I'm happy with my purchase. *7/17/09 My son has been having trouble with beginning sounds, but when we started using this every day on a regular basis, he has no problems with basic phonics anymore.

I read the good reviews and decided to get for my 2 yr old daughter and 4 yr. old son. This game has some drawbacks...
- The keyboard is not a standard "qwerty" design, which does nothing to help familiarize a child with a computer keyboard. - Pooh's sleepy drawl can be difficult to understand, especially when asking a preschooler to spell something. - When quizzing a child on spelling, there is not much time for a child to respond. If he makes a mistake or takes long with one letter, it starts over. My son found that really frustrating. - To play, the user must insert a card into the top part of the computer "screen"-- these cards get destroyed by overanxious preschoolers. - The buttons are confusing. Some have combinations of letters and arrows, there are other buttons for colors, others for shapes. Sometimes it takes a while for my son to find the right button, and by then, Pooh has usually told him he is wrong. All in all, this game is cute, but definitely not one of the educational toys our children crave.

I have 2 year old twins, and they are obsessed with computers. This one is not digital, thus they could care less about it. The cards are easy to bend or lose. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone!

We got it for our 4 yr. old- she seems to like it, especially for use in the car. It keeps her busy for 20-30 minutes or so- after that it gets a little dull. It's small enough to pack easilly, easy to use, and really good for travel. She still likes to use my real laptop as this is no comparison, but it's a decent toy for the money.

I don't really care for this toy. I bought it for my daughter for her 3rd birthday. Our friends had one and she liked it so I got one for her. First of all, there should be different levels of play because the variety of "games" is very easy to very difficult. It goes from what color an object is all the way to how to spell a word. Being someone who has experience working in the teaching field, this is too much of a span for what a child is learing at a particular age. Colors at age 2 to spelling at age 6 or so. Also, another bad thing is that the words on the cards are capitalized with the rest of the letters being lower case, but the keyboard is all upper case. My daughter is only recognizing upper case letters right now (being 4). It's too difficult for her right now, but on the other hand, she does get the color, number, above & below, right & left, and beginning sounds correct. Anyway, I just think there's too much of a easy to hard ratio with this toy. The least they could have done is make different levels of play. In any case, my daughter does enjoy playing with this, but I do detect a bit of discouragement on her part with the spelling.

I bought this toy for my 10mth old so that she could stop banging on my laptop(she didn't stop). When we used the toy with her, we went through the letters, numbers, colors, shapes and the cards. She bangs on it sometimes but i think she will become more interested in it as she gets older and it will prove to be very useful to her educationally.
