The people of Fox Mill are mysteriously dying. Starting with flu-like symptoms, the illness quickly takes control and the patient deteriorates rapidly. Specimens have been taken, but no one in the hospital can identify the microorganism. The specimens are sent to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta, but even they are having trouble identifying it so they send a medical team to Fox Mill. Dr. Kathleen Davidson and her team quickly quarantine the town. By this time, the town is in a state of panic and military support is called in. Time is running out for Kathleen as more and more are dying and the healthy people are trying to escape. She has to find out what is causing the illness before it can spread to the surrounding areas and possibly the rest of the world.

About the Author
Nancy Falconer initially graduated from Illinois State University with a double major in Special Education and Elementary Education. She spent three years teaching Learning disabled Junior and Senior High School students. Going through what she describes as "an early mid-life crisis," she returned to college and graduated with a degree in Nursing. For the past fifteen years she has been a medical-surgical nurse working in specialty areas in oncology, telemetry, and renal. She currently lives in Illinois with her husband and son, continues to work at a local hospital, and enjoys bowling and tai chi.

We have passed this book from person to person at work. Everyone is amazed at how real it is. The situations and characters are so well thought out and detailed. I read this book before the anthrax scare and immediately thought of the situations in this book when hearing about anthrax. The author did a marvelous job keeping you interested. You just can't put the book down.

The book flows and is a real page turner. It is a book that youcan't put down. It's not just fiction, its like reality. What a wonderful book.

This is a book that should be read by every public and health official in this country. In light of the terrorist scare, this is a scary but plausible look at what may happen. This is an excellent book.
