I like the non-toxic soft squeaky toy, but my duaghter is not very interested. She likes Sofie better, but honestly she likes the old toxic plastic toys the best. Go figure.

Obnoxiously squeaking little look-alike...the baby loves it,

Not to put too fine a point on it, the top of this little guy's head is pretty much a nipple. I guess it is designed that way and my son (4 months) loves it. Chowing down on it seems to be his favorite activity when not screaming at his parents to be picked up and held.
The squeaker in the dude is very loud. And you may think you have heard loud, but this is truly Olympic-class loud. Just gumming down on the nipple-head produces a squeak that can be heard across the street. This will affect your baby in three stages: stage one - fright, stage two - curiosity, stage three - complete fascination in the reaction it gets from the parent. Extricating the squeaker is no mean feat, but it can probably be muted somewhat by multiple dunks in the bathtub. Overall, great (and safe) for baby, amusing for parents, until it becomes infuriating.

great teether, softer than Sophie,

I showed it to my 4 1/2 months old girl who is currently - early enough - getting her first teeth. Chan is easy to grab so she was able to put it right into her mouth and chewed on it like crazy.
The other teethers were frustrating for her - most are too hard for chewing and most are too hard to hold - this one is just perfect for her. The soft rubber of Chan makes it well suited for younger babies - it is easier to hold, easier to squeak and easier to chew on than Sophie. I think Sophie the Giraffe is more like a toy while Chan is more like a teether, but both are our girls favorite toys. Which of these 3 guys would i chose? Well, my baby loves the blue 'hat' of Chan (or how would you call that part in a review?) - so I would recommend buying Chan!
