Format: Paperback
This publication is the proceedings of a 2011 conference on 'vulnerability, uncertainty, and risk', mainly related to infrastructure engineering. It consists of a collection of many short papers. I picked up the publication (at a low price) because I've had an interest in this subject matter for the past couple of decades, so I wanted to see the latest thinking in the field. I found the papers to be rather esoteric, with few of them being of much interest to me, and overall not much seems to have changed in the field. I didn't spot any new 'big' ideas, at least not in this book (try the books by Nassim Taleb if that's your interest). This publication is definitely not suitable for people seeking anything resembling a systematic overview of the subject matter, but academic researchers may find it more useful as a means to scan the literature.
