Book Description

November 2005
Vulture explores the minds and crimes of sadistic serial predators. After examining her own cases, studying dozens of solved cases, researching the killers’ lives, and interviewing the killers, Dr. Schurman-Kauflin created new profiles of sadistic killers. Vulture provides a comprehensive, fascinating new look into the minds and crimes of sadists. The book even includes Dr. Schurman-Kauflin’s analysis of the BTK serial killer, a profile which BTK renamed "Hits" and sent to police. In chilling detail, Dr. Schurman-Kauflin takes us through sadistic crimes around the world. Gruesome and horrifying cases are analyzed. The profiling process and the mindsets of these killers are presented. Finally, from the mouths of the killers come the most frightening thoughts and details.

3.0 out of 5 stars disappointing, November 8, 2008

in a book like this i am expecting DETAILED reveiw of the crimes with DETAIL on exactly every single act committed during the crime. there is only one really good scene in this entire book where a serial killer describes in detail how he felt attacking his victims. that was great. the problem was the whole book needs to be like that. i hate glossed over crap as this book in 90% of the content.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very Informative, December 16, 2005

As someone who works with troubled teens, I can see characteristics to watch for those who may be more disturbed than I had thought. This book is very important for anyone who has the opportunity to identify one of these monsters before they can destroy people.

5.0 out of 5 stars Frighteningly accurate portrayal of these monsters., December 12, 2005
This review is from: Vulture: Profiling Sadistic Serial Killers (Paperback)
I was riveted and kept reading about the terrible people who are so primitive and savage. Reading about the 'Pairs' was very scary. When two people are egging one another on to do even more terrible things, the result is even more horror.
Dr. Kauflin is right on the mark with her book and I suspect that she will become a consultant to police departments all over the world with her expertise. Meanwhile, I will be waiting for her next book.
