This book has very nice photos of the Volkswagen in its various "disguises" from all over the world. There are few US specicification cars pictured, most are UK or European models. For a general overview of the type, it is very good. For those looking for a history of the export models made for US consumption, this is not the book. Nitpicking here I know, but as an example the horn ring and steering wheel for the sedan ("bug") were redesigned for the 1964 US model. The 1966 (UK) model pictured has the old style ring and wheel.

Hello Beetle enthusists.

I purchased the book in the list picture but what I am really looking for is the book in the second picture. The Blue Book with the Red Beetle on the cover. It is written by the same auther but illustrated with photos by lowe & b. Hold or holden or something like that. I can't make it out by the picture. But I've seen the book once and it was great. I really would like to get this book if anyone can help please email me [...]

This book has the best studio type photography that I have ever seen in a VW history. I also found the Technical Appendix is among the best for a quick review of the major changes in the VW Type I through the years. The historical photos are reprinted in a crisp format, and are less grainy than I have seen, so these often seen photos seem somehow new. The text is an accurate rehash so an "8" is the highest rating I can give. This lavishly illustrated volume is worth the price. It is a good addition to any VW library.

I hove not found a better book on the history of the Volkswagen. This book is a great reference book for every Volkswagen enthusiast. The pictures in the book are huge, clean, and clear with good labeling of them. The timeline and information is well thought out. This book is just a very good book. Get It!

Is a so interesnting and beauty state of the art book. Is so interesting and well related story. I found a little thing that the author forget: 1971 and 1972 U.S. Beetle and Super Beetle Models have a larger tail light than the other Beetle markets: US tail-light assembly with back-up light and side reflector, and red turn signal. In 70's US Beetles have Enlarged US front turn signal incorporating parking light and reflector. different than the other Beetle markets.

Very nice book, but as an owner of a 1972 super beetle, I would have liked to see it in the book !!! The pictures are very good, the photograph is very good and must have taken a long time to do them. Maururu, Garey.
