Godfrey Daniels, this excellent documentary serves as a worthwhile introduction to the great man as well as satisfying his many fans. Thankfully it is not just a series of talking heads and old trailers dug up from the vaults. A lot of care has gone into the programme. There are plenty of clips from his films and the interviewees speak with authority (including WC Field's grandson - note the family resemblance, except for the nose, of course).

Most importantly it makes you want to dig out the movies and watch them again. Not seen his films? Get the WC Fields comedy collection - it has his two best films "It's A Gift" and "The Bank Dick", as well as "My Little Chickadee" with that other great star Mae West (the only person who got top billing over Fields). If you can't afford the collection try the shorts (The Dentist, The Fatal Glass of Beer etc) which are distilled Fields and still put most modern comedy to shame.

Just an entertaining bio on one of the most fascinating comedians of all time.The coverage and the quality of the film clips alone make it worthwhile. No Field's film collection is complete without it.

W.C. Fields is a comic whose genius deserves to be rediscovered, and this excellent documentary is a great place to start. It covers Fields' entire life and features interviews with not only people who worked closely with him and film experts but his grandson, Ronald. A truly great documentary about an authentic comic master. Very highly recommended.

It was an interesting look into his real life. As excellent and enjoyable as his movies are you really have to be into Fields to watch this dvd.It was enjoyable in parts but dragged a bit.

As a life-long WC Fields fan, this docu is GREAT!!!
So great, it almost brought tears to my eyes!
Now I must go imbibe some 'relaxer' with Mr Muckle............

A quart of whiskey a day. oh my God. DO NOT ATTEMPT THAT AT HOME. that will kill you in a week.
W.C. Fields(a.k.a Humpty Dumpty) was a one of the all time great entertainers in history but not necessarily a good role model for all of you Baby LeRoy's out there. so please drink moderately and don't try to compete with Mr.Fields. you all make such great film historians and we still need you around.
someone please say a prayer for Mr. Godfrey Daniels because he sounds much too impressionable and wants to be just like his role model Mr.Fields. Mr.Daniels sounds like a nice person and someone should be concerned.
A QUART OF WHISKEY A DAY?!!! Are you all sure? I think maybe Mr. Fields is having the last laugh and taking us for suckers because i can't imagine that is even possible. but if so, MB20's Rob Thomas once said,"staight up what did you hope to learn about here?" Yikes.
