W. F. Bach: Symphonies, Harpischord Concerto, Har Mundi,

This review is from: W. F. Bach: Symphonies, Harpischord Concerto (Audio CD)
I stumbled on this gem, when I was filling in for someone on a WWUH radio classical music program. Very listenable, excellent recording with exquisite detail. Harmonia Mundi knows how to bring the small chamber orchestra sound right into your living room. Akademie Fur Alte Musik's string section sounds pure and clean on my MB Quart 280's, and every note played on the clavicin and Fortepiano stands out with the rest of the orchestra in the background. If you like music of the late Baroque period, played by a an ensemble of prize winning musicians, get this recording for your collection!

W. F. Bach: Symphonies, Harpischord Concerto,

W. F. Bach: Symphonies, Harpischord Concerto is a recording under the direction Stephan Mai who leads the Akademie fur Alte Musik Berlin on this harmonia mundia s.a. recording from 2002. This was my first time that I had listened to W.F. Bach (the second eldest son of J.S. Bach) and I must say that I was quite impressed. Whilst not as tallented as his father he showcases plenty of ability to create amazing music in his own right. Peter Wolny has written a very short yet informative essay on the orchestral music of W.F. Bach. Highly recommended indeed. 5/5.
