Product Description

2009 release. Twiztid know scary. Their genre is known for crossing the lines of comfort, safety, and decency; and Twiztid have pushed the envelope with ruthless abandon since their first record. Twiztid is going back to their roots for this album. Plus it has a lesson to teach to those you darn to listen.

5.0 out of 5 stars A return to greatness, March 19, 2009
Brilliant!

After hastilly reviewing the last Lotus, and Mans Myth I decided to listen to this a few times before reviewing. I rushed to judge the previously mentioned albums harshly only to end up loving both. W.I.C.K.E.D. I listened to several times in the comfort of my home as well as in the car.

Twiztid has taken elements from Freak Show, Mans Myth, and Mutant as well as some minor elements from the previous album "Independence Day" (the latter of which highly disappointed me) to create a perfect blend of Concept, Horror Core styled, trippy Rap.

Musically the disc combines a perfect blend of Horror Soundtrack, Psychedelic Electronica, with brief lapses in Metal, and Rock. At times the album sounds as smooth as old Ambient Detroit Electronica, and other times briefly mixes in pounding metal riffs, and rolling bass kicks that are strikingly similar to what you would expect to hear from Horror influenced music like Skinny Puppy, or White Zombie, or even NIN.

Madrox seems to dominate just a tad on the disc spitting his older monstrous, Industrial style vocals which seem to fit beats a little more comfortably. However Monoxide is not left out, and is by no means drowned out.

Lyrically the album captures the Classic Horror concepts so often used by Twiztid, ICP, and Lotus over the years that we cant get enough of. Always sporting that same tongue and cheek serious humor thats so similar what artists like the Misfits wrote about in their music in the early 80's.

The only criticism I have is that there isnt a solid anthem to the album like "We Dont Die" or "Story of our Lives" Theres a lot of great bumps, but nothing on that leval of Ear Candy (which may be a good thing) In closing if you love Horror influenced Music whether its Rap, Punk, Metal, or Industrial, this is probably an album that youll enjoy as much as I did.

5.0 out of 5 stars I W.I.C.K.E.D. too ;), April 14, 2009
When I read that this was gonna be twiztid's darkest album I was a little skeptical. Psychopathic has a way of hyping something up to where you think it's going to be the best thing ever most times they're right, sometimes they are wrong ie the calm or hatchet warrior. But this time I am pleased to say that they were absolutely right!!

W.I.C.K.E.D.- great intro love the poem. gets you ready to the album. 10/10
Kill with us- its one of the most chaotic songs on the whole album. 9/10
Buckets of blood- i love the chorus the whole song is dark.10/10
Ha ha ha ha ha ha- my favorite song on the whole album. the video on youtube was creepy :) 10/10
Death note- wouldn't be a dark album without suicide. great song love the beat. 10/10
Krossroads inn- great song. i love the line "you can't check out once you check in" the whole song reminded my of the movie 1408 10/10
All of the above- great song as well. i love monoxide's part in it. 10/10
Killing season- great song. really fits in with the whole feel of the album. 10/10
Whoop whoop- kind of like a comedic break from all the dark songs. 8/10
That's wicked- good song i just can't get into the ending. 8/10
They told me- one of my favorite songs on the whole album talks about not listening to what people tell you. also has a great chorus. 10/10
My enemies- i love this song. i love their rock-ish songs. great guitars. 10/10
Bella Morte- good song. love when they sing!! 10/10
When i get to hell- a great song about what they're gonna do when they get to hell. wouldn't be a dark album without hell being mentioned :) 10/10
Woe woe- a perfect way to end the album. reminded me of the way icp always end their joker cards. 9/10

bonus songs
Catch the show- good message but i just couldn't get into it. i hate autotune 5/10
Gothic chick- my favorite bonus track. has a smooth sound. the subject is evident in the song. 8/10
It don't stop- the song is pretty good. subject is obvious 7/10

4.0 out of 5 stars twiztid twists it, April 2, 2009
Now at first listen of this album, I was thrown off. I thought here we go the downfall! After several listens later I was just amazed at the layering of this album, and the now obvious view of how much time and effort was taken in placing all the elements. I am a fan of twiztid and icp, I get what this label is trying to do so I guess it puts me at an advantage in discovering things thru different eyes. With that said if you don't care about these artists you are not gonna get it and you should stick with the jonas bros. Independent labels rule!
