Caught in a rock storm - Jeff Scott Soto is back!,
By
This review is from: W.E.T. (Audio CD)
"W.E.T." is the AOR alliance between guitarist Robert Sall ("Work of Art"), lead guitarist Eric Martensson ("Eclipse") and iconic singer Jeff Scott Soto ("Talisman").As all three bands are signed to the same record label, "Frontiers" it is hardly surprising that this project came to be. Naturally one would expect that W.E.T. sounds like a mixture of the three bands mentioned above. Well there is a certain amount of truth but fact is that this project has a sound of its own. Specifically "W.E.T." stands right in the middle between AOR and hard rock; it is full of fat guitar riffs and big drums blended with the most melodic keyboard lines and Soto's unmistakably positive choruses. As a fan of all three bands one could complain that the project lacks some key elements of the original groups; for example the bass lines are nowhere as intense or inventive as in "Talisman", while the overblown melodic guitar lines of "Eclipse" are also omitted. Personally I could not care less. The project is an absolute success as it offers top of the top AOR-Hard Rock tunes in no short supply: "Invincible", "One Love", "Damage is done", "Running from the heartache", "Brothers in Arms", "Just Go", If you are a fan of any of the three bands you just have to get this. If you enjoy AOR- Hard Rock but never heard any of the above artists then you are in for a surprise... guaranteed! The limited edition comes with a bonus DVD including three promo videos. Rock Hard Greek magazine (issue 47) marks this album with 9/10 commenting: "I rarely mark albums as highly... Awesome!"

If you like Journey with extra crunch, this CD/DVD combo is insanely delicious. Incredible songwriting, vocals and interesting timing (such as the hesitation chorus of "Just Go"). The first time I heard "Comes Down Like Rain", it sent chills through me knowing this is ONE SPECIAL PIECE OF MUSIC. Classic from the first play! [...] gave this CD a perfect score of 100 in their review area, which is all-but unheard of! Own it & buy an extra for Christmas for your rockin' friends. They'll love you long time.

The Best Melodic Rock CD of 2009,
By
This review is from: W.E.T. (Audio CD)
This CD is the one Jeff Scott Soto fans have been waiting for for years. Very simply every song is flawless. The production is perfect, and the musicians on board in this semi super group give the best performances of their respective careers. This band has it all. Each band member would be foolish not to continue this full time because none of them have acheived this kind of greatness in their "day job" bands. If I were to be able to critisize anthing on this CD it would have to be the name W.E.T. C'mon you could have come up with something better than that! This CD is a MUST BUY for fans of melodic hard rock.

First off, hit the order button already. I own over 1000 cd's and this is in my top 5 of all time, (#1 ? Michael Bolton, Everybody's Crazy 1985)
Why is this cd good? I can't tell you. Why not? well its for the same reason you can't exactly explain WHY you love a certain girl/guy. You just do. THAT is what these 3 guys create on this cd. Songs so likable you don't have to explain why you love them, you JUST DO. The most important thing about this cd is you are going to fall head over heels with the first 4 songs. All should have been hits on the radio in the U.S.A. (we all know that isn't gonna happen by reason of insanity by every record label in america but that is a conversation for another day) for me the real meat of the record starts with song 5 and goes from there. The best part of this record is after 3 listens you'll appreciate this record for the work of art this truly is. I'm not saying the first 4 songs are the best, but they ARE the catchiest songs i've heard in a decade or more. Instant sing along songs that you'd run to your friends and go, "dude, put these earphones on and listen to THIS!!!" Jeff's vocals are easily far and away his highest and catchiest since "Don't let it end" and "I'll see the light tonight" The great thing about Jeff is he sings at the top of his range and yet always sounds clear and concise. Those are the singers i adore & if you are reading this you probably do too, The ones that can go high but are clear & intelligible. Jeff's ability to make you feel the emotions he's gushing about are what make him one of the industry's most sought after session vocalists. Anybody can sing, only guys like Jeff make you feel. I'm not technical and i'm not a musician but i am a fan and i don't think, i know you will be one too after getting this cd and giving it 3 listens. Go ahead, fall in love, I did.

In my opinion a lot of music in this genre tends to be quite boring, unoriginal and lacking the proper nerve that R&R needs. While this record is not original in any way it still has some great songs that will have you humming their melodies in a short time and you`ll be hard pressed to find a better opening song on any similar album. Some of these songs deserve a perfect score but then again there are some who just aren`t as memorable, still i hope these guys will make another album and I can absolutely recommend this album to any fans of melodic rock ala. Journey, Danger Danger and the like.

W.E.T. (s/t)...One word--AWESOME!!! What a superb CD!!! If you like hard melodic rock with excellent guitars and vocals, this is the one for you!!! From start to finish, this album is one of the best I've heard in a while. Great production at every level of the recording--Drums, bass, guitars, keyboards, and Jeff Scott Soto's vocals....WOW!!! If you like Hugo, Tyketto, and Journey, you will love this CD!!! I sincerely hope these guys will come back with a 2nd album--That would be a treat!!! A++++++++

This is an awesome collection of melodic rock songs featuring the impressive vocals of Jeff Scott Soto. The songs are written and performed by members of Work Of Art and Eclipse, two of the premier european bands in this genre. The production is stunning all round from the massive guitars and drums to the big vocal sound and atmospheric keys. It is great to hear JSS back singing in fine form after his disappointing solo album. But the highlights of this album revolve around the impressive vocal melodies written by Erik Martensson from Eclipse. The album as a whole is strong from start to end but song highlights for me are the power ballad "Comes Down Like Rain", the infectious chorus of "I'll Be There", and the epic final song "If I Fall". I must also single out "One Day At A Time" which I believe to be one of the best songs ever written in this genre and one of JSS's best performances ever. This is a highly recommended album.

best melodic rock record of 2009,

This is an awesome record from a collection of 3 incredibly unsung talents. Jeff Scott Soto has never sounded better and the songs themselves are some of the best melodic hard rock you'll ever hear. Hopefully life will give these guys a break and W.E.T. will somehow find a larger audience beyond the hardcores still listening to stuff like this.

This cd will take you back to a style of music often overlooked in this day and age...It is filled with songs that have great hooks, rocking guitars, and big, well sung choruses...You will find yourself singing along right from the first listen...I hope these guys get together and do another cd at some point, I will definitely be buying it!! Give this a try, you won't be disappointed people!!
