Now I have two batteries that wont hold a charge more than 5 - 10 minutes.

When I called and explained the problem again they e-mailed me two return forms and told me that they would be removing the item from their site.

Worx should alert customers to this if that's a problem, unless it's a design flaw they didn't know about.

I was about to post my own gripe when I called Worx customer service. There is an automated option for batteries that directs you to worxbattery.com.

Punch in the serial number of your battery and you will likely qualify for a free battery replacement on their dime.

I only give this a 5 stars because they are willing to rectify the problem at no charge. If I end up getting a bad battery and Worx does not do the right thing I'll change this to a 1 star.

Edit: The replacement battery I received has been working fine for 1 1/2 seasons of actual use. The battery inside is green-colored instead of purple. You can see the color by peeking through the air vents on the battery. It took about 2 weeks for the replacement battery to come in and it came with a free 6-pack of spools. Glad my post has helped people save some money.

Unbelievable in that I have three Worx GT WA3512 (18-v lithium ion) batteries, the orignal that came with the trimmer and two spares. Currently, only one is working, as the other two are defective - no longer taking a charge. Purchased unit in April 2010. I contacted Worx GT, given the 30-day return period had elapsed. While Worx GT is willing to replace the first battery, it has been over 30 days and I have not received the replacement battery. Worked my lawn this morning and the original battery is no longer accepting a charge - so I am down to one battery pending Worx replacing battery number two. Hopefully, I will limp through the summer with this equipment, but will replace with a Sears Craftsman of Black and Decker for next year. We have used a Black and Decker trimmer for almost 5 years - never, never had a problem of this kind in maintaining a charge. Despite it shortened battery life, the Black and Decker Unit runs circles around the Worx GT's battery life. Worx GT needs to come clean with the consumer on its inferior batteries. Unless it is corded, Worx GT products are worthless when connected to their Lithium Ion batteries. As for Worx's customer service - needed to contact them on the status of my replacement battery. Guessing they are very busy, given the number of battery complaints found in QVC and Amazon.COM. WORX WA3512 Lithium-Ion 18-Volt Battery for WG151.5, WG251.5 and WG540

Some good news, after a few months of back and forth, Worx came through. Worx replaced all four of my batteries, free of charge, including the shipping. They even threw in a bag of replacement string.

Those that said the battery had no life were correct, five 15 minute uses and it was totally dead, will NOT recharge even though the green light on the charging station says it has. USELESS PRODUCT! $120 for a little more than an hours work. From the research I have done it appears you should NOT leave the battery in the charging station once the green light goes on, it will destroy the battery. Once it recharges put it back in the trimmer and leave it there until recharging again. This may no save your battery but at least it will last longer than an hour.

Battery life was nothing like they said it would be on the infomercial. Lasted for ten minutes, and completly died after five uses. I wound up buying two additional batteries for two different outlets, and they both died in under a month. Would be an above average product if the batteries did'nt give you the feeling that they were disposable. Do not purchase product till they improve battery.

Battery life is right at 30minutes of in use time, which is just riht for my purposes. However, after only 1 year of use the battery has failed. If this is typical then you are wasting your money on this product and the trimmer. I am buying another battery as i have already invested in the trimmer, but if this battery does not last I won't be a replacing it.

I too are having trouble with this battery. I purchased the WG151.5 directly from Worx a month ago and emailed them about their defective battery (it will no longer take a charge). I'm still waiting for an answer from them. They claim that they have "a significantly higher than normal volume of emails". I wonder why! I did leave it on the charger one time over night after it was charged. Maybe that's a death warrant for the battery. Worx should alert customers to this if that's a problem, unless it's a design flaw they didn't know about. Anyway , it worked fine for a month! I'm hoping that I didn't waste my money.

I finally contacted WORX by phone and they quickly resolved my battery problem by sending me a brand-new one. I then sent back the defective battery, postage paid by WORX. It took a little prodding, but they stood by their product.

Really like the trimmer, light and reasonably powerful for regular trimming and edging jobs. Give it to my 9 year old to do the edging and he loves it. So the design on handling is wonderful, thanks mostly to its light weight. However, the battery only lasts about the length of my lawn edge and sometimes shorter. Extra battery is absolutely necessary for extra trimming and my yard is less than 1/5 acre albeit on a corner lot. The line spool does not advance all the way as it should and needs to be pulled out by hand. Not a good design at all on top of the fact the line spool is really tiny and line is really thin, but the line spools are free for life and replacing the line spool is easy and quick. I guess that does make it up for the poor design.

I would give it a 5-start for handling, but a 2-start for poor battery life and line spool design. And recenetly the battery is experiencing charging problems. Will call their customer support and see how their service is like.
