Product Description

The WORX Leaf Collection System is an accessory that converts the TriVac into a high capacity leaf collector. Easily mulch and collect 550 gallons of leaves down to a small enough size that allows them to fit into a 55 gallon trash can. Never bend over and pick up leaves again. Sweep them up with the TriVac and then remove them with the Leaf Collection system.

The leaf bag that is included with the WORX TriVac is fine for small cleanup jobs, but for those big leaf removal projects you need to get the WA4053.1 Leaf Collection System. What you get is a cover that cinches to the top of a plastic trash can and an eight foot flexible hose that connects to your TriVac. The cover is made from the same material as the collection bag that comes standard with the TriVac.

The plus side of the collection system is that you can mulch about ten times as many leaves as the collection bag before you have to empty it. The minus side is that you have to drag a 32 gallon trash can around while you vac the leaves. To minimize moving the can I blow a few thousand bushels of leaves into drifts or against a fence, then vac them up from there with very little movement.

Some reviews report that the cover comes off of the trash can. This only happened to me once out of twenty uses. I just found it a bit of a nuisance to remove and then replace the cover every time I emptied the trash can. My solution was to get two identical trash cans that nest inside one another. I cut the handles off of one of the cans so that they would not interfere with attaching the cover, then I cut off the top 12 inches off the can and discarded the bottom portion. I attached the leaf collection cover to the top rim of the cut off can and taped it securely with duct tape. This cover and can top unit nest inside of the collection can. When the can is full I just pull out the nesting cover assembly and empty the leaves. Press the cover assembly back into the collection can and you are ready to bust more leaves.

This item is great at mulching. It makes a real good product for preparing your plants for cold weather.
Two things I don't like, and the first is because I have arthritic hands 1) the cord is difficult (for me) to cinch
tightly and 2) a lot of dust comes through the bag. That said, I believe it has to because if it didn't it would blow
the cover off. So it is a good idea to wear a mask if you are in a small area using it. I believe the benefits far
outweigh these two things. Makes several huge piles of leaves into ONE bucket of mulch. Once mulched, they no longer
blow around your yard, or get wet and slimy. A perfect product for a variety of applications. PS, a good idea is to
bungy your bucket to a hand cart or put the bucket on something with wheels.

I love this. Even though the barrel fell over all the time and the tube has a bend in it. The cover worked well. I needed to tighten the cord extreamly tightly until it stayed on, but not a problem really. I really enjoyed not having to carry around a connected bag and dump the stuff into a bag. I'll probably mulch most of the leaves but for those I don't Ill just put the town's pick up bag in the barrell and let the system fill it up. No more bending down and picking up leaves!

While I really liked all the features of the TriVac from the beginning, the bag seemed to fill up quckly, and emptying it into a trash can was awkward. This attachment allows me to cover much more territory before changing over to another trash can--I often leave my four filled trash cans for the City to pick up, (By the way, I don't fill the 30-gallon cans to the top--that would make them too heavhy for the City guys to manage.) I have no trouble with the cover coming off the can. I do have an occasional problem with the can tipping over when I first start filling it, but after a short time, the weight of the muchled leaves stabilizes the can. I would suggest that readers take a look at the review titled "Who You Gonna Call?" by Mike Harshe. I am going to try his clever idea for making a sleeve outof the top of a trash can gto slip down into other trash cans--sort of a "quick-disconnect" system. Another tip--When you start out with an empty trash can, it's going to tip over at the slightest tug....So, start out with the can lying on it's side; when enough mulched leaves have added some weight, the can will be more stable. Count me as yet another very satisfied user of the Worx leaf-collection system.

Yes indeed, we have choices concerning leaves:

* We can eliminate all our trees
* We can ignore the leaf buildup in our yard
* We can pay or sequester someone else to clean them up
* We can do it ourselves

Concerning do it yourselfers, we also have options:

* We can do it the hard way by ignoring how to make a useful accessory work well for us, or
* We can do it the easier way by being motivated to spend a little time to make a useful accessory work well for us.

Mike Harshe (See "Who you gonna call - Leaf Busters) gave a great tip that I have implemented.
It required two $15 32-gallon plastic trash cans and 1/2 hour of easy work following Mike's suggestion. It works perfectly.

I agree with some of the 2 and 3 star reports if no modifications are made. But a 2 or 3 star item can be modified into a 4 or 5 star item by making the sleeve described by Mike. I took a few photos that I posted on the product site. Make sure you trim off (or notch out) the little protrusions around the rim of the opening so the draw string can be secured without gaps. This will help a lot for those who had a problem with the fabric cover blowing off, whether you use this sleeve technique or not.

With the above sleeve fabrication, this product is 5 Stars. With only cutting off the protrusions on the can, it is 4 Stars. By making no modification to the can, it can be a 3 or less.

This Worx leaf collection system is way better than using the bag typically attached to a vac/mulcher. Why carry an extra 5 to 10 pounds of debris around when it can all be blown into a high capacity trash can. And there is way less dust using this system than there is when you empty a bag into another trash can manually.
