I was really glad to find a alternative to Killawatt and I am glad I got this brand instead because not once have I had a issue with this meter and to be honest, this meter does every action the Killawatt does, but not only is the cost more reasonable, this meter is much easier to use.
However, there is pivotal information that should be noted. This unit is measured in AC, which means Alternating current and the max capacity of this meter is 120 volts and 15 amps (amps meaning amperage). Due to safety reasons and limitations of this unit, these numbers should NEVER be exceeded as this can be fatal. While this product is ROHS compliant and can withstand up to 3000 watts, that does not mean exceeding 120 volts is advisable. This would be a completely different story if this had CAT IV protection or CAT III protection, but alas, this product does not contain that level of protection, but neither does Killawatt.
But what makes this product really great is the fact that the back light display is not only actually bright and the letters and numbers are legible, but also this product can read wattage, amps, voltage and the dollar cost of using a product. However if an appliance has a wattage rating of 2000 or higher, leaving this meter in money saving mode is a good idea, as this could cause the meter to overload and possible other hazardous effects could very well occur.
I've used this to test several chargers and even a 23 watt CFL (with a outlet adapter) and because the measurement accuracy is 1, this is really accurate and was even surprising to see how much wattage, voltage, amps and dollars these items actually used.
Overall, this is a fantastic Watt usage meter and your looking to save money, but not skimp on quality, I highly recommend this meter. As long as this unit is used in a safe fashion, this unit should last a very long time.
