The list author says: "Some of the best items related to history and war that I have enjoyed seeing or reading. Of course it's not the only list. Likely not the best. It is just one you might find a gem within."
"Excellent historical documentary about the Hudson River and its relationship to American history. It is also one of the most beautiful documentaries I have ever watched. Excellent in many respects. Highly recommended for all ages."
"An intense spy vs spy, with success relying on a combat tracking dog that's lost his nerve after his handler was blown to bits. But the Marine's sister thinks he's alive, and sets off to find out the truth, the ugly truth. Very intense, even though it has a romantic thread and is written by a Christian author."
"You will learn new truths about 9 different war battlefields that change history. Very educational, and done in an entertaining documentary fashion. See HAROLD WOLF'S full review, also indicating episode detail. Even my WIFE enjoyed this war documentary."
"An astonishing documentary with the majority being archive footage of battlefront activity and narration depicting some of the lesser known stories and the details behind narrow escapes. Serious hero stuff for the WW2 historian."
"In-depth 4 episode documentary of the bombing raid on Tokyo, planned and staged in 90 days, soon after Pearl Harbor by the US. It was a successful surprise attack, but a harrowing experience for the crews. 5 survivors help tell the story. Even my wife liked it."
"The most economical way to buy the entire series, if not already owned in part. A good price with tons of hours of viewing. An additional post-war season is releasing soon. One of the top war drama series ever produced anywhere."
"Absolutely incredible DVD series, 13 wonderful episodes as intriguing as a drama espionage thriller. See my Harold WOLF full review, extra long cause it's extra good. 6 stars worthy for spy and history and wwii buffs. A MUST OWN."
"A novel filled with historic material of a small group of German Jews who try to warn the world of what is to come. It is not a light read, but compelling. See my Harold Wolf review for added details. A good one for the WWII and European history readers. Not your typical holocaust tale. Thanks for helpful votes."
"BBC offers DVD quickly and it's worth a view for those who have found, like me, the series drama a delightful period farm front story. It picks up from the last, and continues the saga-like activity of Land Girls life. Perhaps more romanticized than a documentary, but that's what makes it fun. See the full Harold Wolf review. enjoy"
"WOW. Super historical fiction about survivors and the US Senate investigation of the Titanic sinking. Using real testimony, the author fills in the unknown pieces on some lives of a few survivors. See my full review, Harold Wolf. And thanks for any helpful votes."
"35th anniversary of a classic and the newly done DVD is the best ever produced, I believe. It is compelling viewing, full Roman lusts and fights. Ranks high on the entertainment factor, not really a documentary."
"Great finish for this TV historical drama about spies in the British forces during WWII. The third and final series completes the story begun in series one. All are good. A different type of war story, with women in leadership roles (occasionally) and women in harm's way--ahead of the front. See my review, and thanks for any helpful votes, which let us know you appreciate the reviewers efforts."
"Some complain that World War One was not in color. Wrong, those soldiers saw red and plenty of it. Yellow bomb flashes bursting. It's all here, historic footage, colorized, making it real in the 21st century. Let us not forget these men and women. Excellent."
