The Basic Marine Corp Doctrine, December 11, 2005
This review is from: WARFIGHTING (Marine Corps Doctrinal Publication 1) (Paperback)
This small, easy to understand manual describes the basic, most fundamental function of the U.S. Marines - warfighting.
This is the updated version, from 1997. It is not intended as a reference manual; it is designed to be read from cover to cover. It has four chapters.
Chapter 1 describes the basic Marine Corp understanding of the characteristics, problems, and demands of war.
Chapter 2 derives a theory about war from that understanding.
Chapters 3 and 4 uses this theory as as the foundation as to how the Marines prepare for war and how they wage war.
This publication describes the philosophy which distinguishes the Marine Corps. This philosophy is the Marine Corps approach to duty in war, in crisis, and in peace.
The book presents this philosophy for all Marines from the commandant to the lowest private in a clear and concise manner. It is expected that all Marines will read and apply it.
