If you're checking this out, there's a chance you have already heard of this legend. I own two of these (along with 3 other winches). I have seen these do things most people wouldn't believe. My uncle lifted all four wheels on his Land Rover off the ground pulling a bull dozier out of the mud(anchored to a tree in the rear). The no load line speed is the best you can get. It is actually faster than my Jeep is in 4x4 low gear; That's pretty important so you don't run over your winch line. There is no better winch brake than this one. At one time, because of the brake, it was the only OHSA approved electric winch for lifting humans into the air. The downside is that it is a big winch and is hard to mount(on some trucks)and it sucks the battery down fast. I will often take stop winching to give the battery time to recharge. A two battery setup would be best or a bigger alternator. Don't get me wrong, the bigger the winch motor, the bigger the drag on the battery, and you will experience this with other winches as well. I use this on a Jeep Rubicon and a Land Rover Series III.

I got one of these back in 1976. It was on the front of a 1974 Chev Blazer That baby blue Blazer was called Babe and it had its hook on just about every type of rig. Rams Gimmys F350s Silverados Jeeps F40s Datsuns with and with out v6s in em. Tacos before Taco Bell was there. I have even drug Elk over the side wall of a canyon a few times with a 1000' of para cord on them, Pulled trees stumps Rocks out of the field. I even used it to lift its self into a tree so I could change out the rear axle at night.
I loved the Blazer and the winch. After ten years thieves stole the Winch and the ex stole the rig. so I got new ones of all them including the ex. <G> I have had the new lady for 25years now the new winch for 10 and the new Truck for 14 and so many miles that none have any warrantee left. dray |
